Yury Vladimirovich Petrov (russian: Юрий Владимирович Петров; 18 January 1939 – 24 October 2013) was a Soviet and Russian politician. Biography Yury Petrov was born in Nizhny Tagil. After graduating from high school in 1956, he worked at Uralvagonzavod. In 1957, after the family moved to Sverdlovsk, he worked in the Sverdlovsk design and technology institute of the Ministry of Defense Industry of the USSR. In 1959 Petrov was conscripted for three-years service in the Soviet Armed Forces, then graduated from the Ural Polytechnic Institute and returned to Nizhny Tagil. In October 1962 Petrov joined the Communist Party. Since 1967, he had been a party activist in Nizhny Tagil, reaching the post of the first secretary of city's party committee in 1974. Three years later he was elected secretary of the Sverdlovsk regional committee of the CPSU. Yury Aleksandrovich Petrov (russian: Юрий Александрович Петров; born 10 April 1947, Leningrad) is a Russian political figure and a deputy of the 8th State Duma. He has the federal state civilian service rank of 1st class Active State Councillor of the Russian Federation. After graduating from the Leningrad State University, Petrov started working there first as an assistant and later as an associate professor of the Faculty of Law. Simultaneously with that, he was also working as a lawyer in a number of Saint Petersburg law firms. In September 2004, Petrov was appointed deputy chair of the Russian fund of federal property (liquidated in 2008). From 2008 to 2011, he headed the Federal Agency for State Property Management. In 2011, 2016, and 2021 he was elected deputy of the 6th, 7th, and 8th State Dumas, respectively.
