Yuri Yakovich
Yuri Rafailovich Yakovich (; born November 30, 1962) is a Russian chess player. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 1990. He was a member of the silver medal-winning Russian team at the 1997 European Team Chess Championship. In 2019, Yakovich was part of the Russian team that won the gold medal at the European Senior Team Championship in the 50+ category. In 2003 he tied for 1st–3rd with Evgenij Miroshnichenko and Alexander Potapov in the Fakel Jamala tournament in Noyabrsk. In 2007, he tied for 1st–6th with Vitali Golod, Mateusz Bartel, Mikhail Kobalia, Michael Roiz and Zahar Efimenko in the 16th Monarch Assurance Isle of Man International tournament. Yakovich is the author of the books ''Play the 4 f3 Nimzo-Indian'', published by Gambit Publications in 2004, and ''Sicilian Attacks'', published by New In Chess in 2010. Chess Grandmasters
Chess is a board game for two players. It is an abstract strategy game that involves no hidden information and no elements of chance. It is played on a square board consisting of 64 squares arranged in an 8×8 grid. The players, referred to as "White" and "Black", each control sixteen pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights, and eight pawns, with each type of piece having a different pattern of movement. 44th Chess Olympiad
The 44th Chess Olympiad was an international team chess event organised by the FIDE, International Chess Federation (FIDE) in Chennai, India, from 28 July to 10 August 2022. It consisted of two main tournaments—an Open event, enabling participation of players from all genders, and a Women's event, enabling participation of female players only—as well as several events to promote chess. The Olympiad was initially supposed to take place in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, the host of the Chess World Cup 2019, in August 2020, but it was later moved to Moscow. However, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then relocated to Chennai following Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The German Chess Federation (, DSB) is the umbrella organization for German chess players. It is a member of the Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund and of FIDE, the World Chess Federation. It has over 90,000 members in over 2500 clubs, making it one of the world's largest national chess federations.
