Yuri Sysuyev
Yuri Nikolayevich Sysuyev (; born 6 February 1949) is a retired officer of the Russian Navy. He holds the rank of admiral, and served as commander of the 5th Operational Squadron between 1992 and 1993, the from 1993 to 1994, the Higher Special Officer Classes of the Navy from 1999 to 2003, and the Kuznetsov Naval Academy from 2003 to 2008. Biography Sysuyev was born on 6 February 1949 in the village of , , Primorsky Krai, in what was then the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, in the Soviet Union. He entered the Soviet Navy, studying at the Azerbaijan Higher Naval Academy, Kirov Caspian Higher Naval School in Baku from 1966 to 1971. On graduating, he was assigned to the Pacific Fleet (Russia), Pacific Fleet and served as commander of the navigation department aboard a submarine from 1971 to 1975. Primorsky Krai, informally known as Primorye, is a federal subjects of Russia, federal subject (a krais of Russia, krai) of Russia, part of the Far Eastern Federal District in the Russian Far East. Whiskey-class submarines (known in the Soviet Union as Projects 613, 640, 644, and 665) are a class of diesel-electric attack submarines that the Soviet Union built in the early Cold War period. Design The initial design was developed in the early 1940s as a sea-going follow-on to the S-class submarine. As a result of war experience and the capture of German technology at the end of the war, the Soviet Union issued a new design requirement in 1946. The revised design was developed by the Lazurit Design Bureau based in Gorkiy. Like most conventional submarines designed between 1946 and 1960, the design was heavily influenced by the World War II German Type XXI U-boat. Nikolai Anatolyevich Yevmenov (, born 2 April 1962) is a Russian admiral who served as the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy from 2019 to 2024. He is currently the director of the N. G. Kuznetsov Naval Academy. Biography Yevmenov was born on 2 April 1962 in Moscow. He studied at the Higher Naval School of Submarine Navigation between 1980 and 1987, after which he was appointed commander of the electronic navigation department of the navigation unit (BCh-1) of a nuclear submarine in the Pacific Fleet from 1987 to 1991. Cam Ranh Air Force Base is located on Cam Ranh Bay in Khánh Hòa province, Vietnam. It was one of several air bases built and used by the United States Air Force (USAF) during the Vietnam War.
