Yuksaq Liqa
The Azerbaijan Premier League (), also known as Misli Premyer Liqası for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Azerbaijan and the highest level of the Azerbaijani football league system. It is contested by twelve clubs. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 33 matches each (playing each team in the league three times, twice at home and once away). The Premier League champion secures the right to play in UEFA Champions League first qualifying round. The runner up and the 3rd-place winner secure the right to play in UEFA Europa Conference League starting in second qualifying round. Since 1992, a total of eight clubs have been crowned champions of the Azerbaijani football system. Shamkir Football Club () is an Azerbaijani football club based in Şəmkir, that currently plays in the Azerbaijan First Division. The club is one of the oldest and most successful clubs in Azerbaijan's football history with two Azerbaijan Premier League titles. History The club was established in 1954, even though it never participated in any Soviet football league. It was re-established in 1993. 2006–07 Azerbaijan Top League
2006–07 Azerbaijan Premier League was the fifteenth season of top-tier football in Azerbaijan. The season started with 14 teams, but ended with 13 after FK Gäncä were excluded. FK Baku were the defending champions with the season began on 5 August 2006 and ended on 23 May 2007. At the end of the season the league was dissolved and replaced by the Azerbaijan Premier League. Teams MOIK Baku and FK Göyazan Qazax, Göyazan Qazax were relegated after finishing 2005–06 Azerbaijan Top League, the previous season in 13th and 14th place. They were replaced by Gabala FC, Gilan Qäbälä and Simurq PIK, Simurq Zaqatala from the Azerbaijan First Division. FC Baku (), founded as Dinamo Baku in 1997, was an Azerbaijani football club based in Baku that had been an amateur club since 2016. Khazar Lankaran FK () was an Azerbaijani football club based in Lankaran that last played in the Azerbaijan Premier League during the 2015–16 season. 1997–98 Azerbaijan Top League
The 1997–98 Azerbaijan Top League was the seventh season of the Azerbaijan Top League, since their independence from the USSR in August 1991, and was contested by 15 clubs. Kapaz won their second title and Qarabağ and the Azerbaijan U-18 team were relegated. Khazri Buzovna pulled out of the league and dissolved after 8 games, as did Kur Nur at the end of the season.
