Yukon Selects
Yukon Selects Soccer Club is a Canadian semi-professional soccer club based in Whitehorse, Yukon. The club's senior team was to begin playing in the Last Frontier Division of the United Premier Soccer League in 2020; however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this has been delayed. Stadium The team's home venue is the stadium of F.H. Collins Secondary School in Whitehorse which meets UPSL National Division I standards. History Yukon Selects was founded in 1998. The club went on to represent the Yukon Territory in the Canadian Club National Championships in 2000, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2017. It has also participated in the State Cup of neighboring Alaska, United States approximately six times, including a title-winning year in 1999. Whitehorse, Yukon
Whitehorse () is the capital of Yukon, and the largest city in Northern Canada. It was incorporated in 1950 and is located at kilometre 1426 (Historic Mile 918) on the Alaska Highway in southern Yukon. Whitehorse's downtown and Riverdale areas occupy both shores of the Yukon River, which rises in British Columbia and meets the Bering Sea in Alaska. United Premier Soccer League
The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is an American soccer league that was founded in Santa Ana in Southern California, with teams in regionalized conferences throughout the United States, and recently Canada and Mexico. The league was founded in 2011 by Santa Ana Winds FC President Leonel López as a regional league for teams in Greater Los Angeles, but expanded to include 400 teams from 41 states as of the 2022 season. Two seasons are played each year, with regional play culminating in a playoff system that crowns a single national champion each season. The league features internal promotion and relegation with up to three levels in some regions; only clubs in the top tier Premier Division are eligible to compete for the national championship. The United States soccer league system is a series of professional and amateur soccer leagues based, in whole or in part, in the United States. Sometimes called the American soccer pyramid, teams and leagues are not linked by the system of promotion and relegation typical in soccer elsewhere.
