York Region Shooters (1998)
The York Region Shooters were a soccer team playing in the Canadian Soccer League (2006–present), Canadian Professional Soccer League from 1998 to 2002. They played their home matches in the town of Aurora, Ontario, north of Toronto. The franchise was one of the original teams of the CPSL. The team had its origins in the York Region Soccer League and were previously known as the York Region Stallions. During its five-year stint in the CPSL the club failed to secure a postseason berth, but managed to develop some top talent for the Canada men's national soccer team, Canada national team. In 2002, the York Region Shooters were sold by the Bisceglia family to Tony De Thomasis, and merged the club with the Vaughan Sun Devils in 2003. Vaughan Sun Devils
The Glen Shields Sun Devils were a soccer team which played in the Canadian Soccer League, Canadian Professional Soccer League from 1998 to 2002. They played their home matches in Thornhill, Ontario. The franchise was one of the original teams of the CPSL. Originally founded as a youth soccer club, the youth club still continues to operate, now known as Glen Shields FC. The team was founded in 1982 and was originally known as Glen Shields Soccer Club. During its five-year stint in the CPSL the club qualified for the playoffs three times and reached the semi-finals each occasion. Adrian Cann
Adrian Cann (born September 19, 1980) is a Canadian soccer player who plays as a defender for Canadian Soccer League club Serbian White Eagles FC. Club career College Cann had a college soccer career at the University of Louisville from 2000 to 2003. Cann immediately earned a place in the Cardinals' starting lineup as a freshman, starting 20 games for the team, and was named to first-team All-Conference USA. Cann would maintain this level of performance, being named first-team All-C USA as a sophomore, junior, and senior, and being named the conference's Co-Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and senior. The Canadian Soccer League (CSL; ) is a semi-professional league for Canadian soccer clubs primarily located in the province of Ontario, and claims the history of the Canadian National Soccer League (CNSL). York Region Shooters
York Region Shooters is a Canadian association football, soccer team, that plays in the Canadian Soccer League. The Shooters played their home games at the St. Joan of Arc Turf Field in the City of Vaughan, Ontario. The team's colours were blue and white, mirroring those of the Italy national football team, Italy national team and reflecting the cultural heritage of the club. The club had also competed under various different names as Vaughan Sun Devils, Vaughan Shooters, Italia Shooters, and finally as York Region Shooters. Cameron Medwin
Cameron Medwin (born March 19, 1982, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian former soccer who played as a defender. Playing career Cameron began playing amateur soccer with local clubs such as Vaughan Rockets, and Wexford Warriors where he won the Ontario Cup. In March 1999 – when he turned 16 – he began his soccer career with London City in the Canadian Professional Soccer League. He made his debut on May 28, 1999, against the North York Astros where he scored his first goal. Cameron continued playing with London until he began college soccer with Humber College in 2001. Stuart Black (born 2 June 1975) is a Nigerian former footballer who played in the Canadian National Soccer League, USL A-League, and Canadian Professional Soccer League. Andres Arango (born April 23, 1983) is a former soccer player who played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League, USL A-League, and the North American Soccer League. Arango is currently a coach with Florida Premier FC in the United Premier Soccer League. Born in Colombia, he represented Canada at youth level as a player.
