York Community Stadium
York Community Stadium (known for sponsorship purposes as the LNER Community Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Huntington, North Yorkshire, Huntington, York, England. It is owned by City of York Council, and is shared by York City F.C., York City Football Club and York Knights, York Rugby League Football Club. The capacity of the all-seater stadium is 8,500. The move to a new stadium was necessitated by the terms of the loan York City secured from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund to purchase their Bootham Crescent ground. Planning permission for the current design, put forward by Greenwich Leisure Limited, Greenwich Leisure, was granted in March 2015. After several delays, construction began in December 2017 and was completed in December 2020. In addition to the stadium, the site houses a leisure complex and a community hub. Huntington, North Yorkshire
Huntington is a village and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the unitary authority of City of York in North Yorkshire, England. It is part of the ''Huntington & New Earswick'' ward and lies on the River Foss, to the north of York and the south of Strensall. The village was historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. It was then a part of the district of Ryedale in North Yorkshire from 1974 until 1996. Since 1996 it has been part of the City of York unitary authority. According to the 2001 census Huntington had a population of 9,277, increasing to 12,108 at the 2011 census. The Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) is an organisation that provides grants and loans to lower level football clubs in England. Financing activities are meant to develop the comfort and safety of football grounds and the FSIF is the largest provider for this type of grant in the country. Huntington Stadium (formerly Ryedale Stadium) is the former stadium of England, English rugby league teams York Wasps, and York City Knights. History The stadium, which was financed by the Ryedale District Council and was initially named the Ryedale Stadium, was completed in October 1989. Jason Alexander McGill (born 7 April 1966) is a former chairman of York City Football Club, a professional football club in York, North Yorkshire, England.
