Yun () is a family name in Korea, which means "governor". The name is sometimes also transliterated as Yoon, Yune, Yiun, or Youn. According to the 2000 census, 948,600 people had the surname in South Korea. It derives from the Chinese character 尹. Clans and history Papyeong clan The Papyeong (파평, 坡平) Yoon clan, which has its seat in Papyeong-myeon, Paju City, is the most well-known Yoon clan. The 2000 South Korean census found 221,433 households claiming membership in the Papyeong clan, with a total population of 713,947. The clan's founding ancestor is General Yun Sin-dal, who assisted Wang Kŏn (later King Taejo) in founding the Goryeo Dynasty. Yun Kwan was a renowned general in the Goryeo Dynasty. STAYC (; , acronym for Star to a Young Culture) is a South Korean girl group formed by High Up Entertainment. The group is composed of six members: Sumin, Park Si-eun (entertainer), Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon, and J. Mainly produced by K-pop duo Black Eyed Pilseung, they debuted on November 12, 2020, with the release of their debut single album ''Star to a Young Culture''. From September 2023 to March 2024 they embarked on their first world tour. The is a feature of the Japanese language in which a mora is formed with an added sound, i.e., palatalized, or (more rarely in the modern language) with an added sound, i.e. labialized. Prabda Yoon (; ; born 2 August 1973 in Bangkok) is a Thai writer, novelist, filmmaker, artist, graphic designer, magazine editor, screenwriter, translator and media personality. His literary debut, ''Muang Moom Shak'' (''City of Right Angles''), a collection of five related stories about New York City, and the follow-up story collection, ''Kwam Na Ja Pen'' (''Probability''), both published in 2000, immediately turned him into "...the talk of the town..." Yoon Suk Yeol
Yoon Suk Yeol (; born 18 December 1960) is a South Korean politician and former prosecutor who served as the 13th president of South Korea from 2022 until Impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol, he was removed from office in 2025. The shortest-serving directly elected president of South Korea in its democratic history, Yoon previously served as the prosecutor general of South Korea from 2019 to 2021. Born in Seoul, Yoon received his bachelor's and master's degrees in law from Seoul National University.
