Yizhar Hess
Yizhar Hess (Hebrew: יזהר הס; born July 5, 1967) is Vice Chairman of the World Zionist Organization. He was elected to that role in 2020 as a representative of MERCAZ, the Zionist slate of the global Masorti/Conservative Movement. He is an activist and commentator on issues of religion and state in Israel, religious pluralism, and Israel-Diaspora relations. Hess previously served for thirteen years as CEO of the Masorti Movement in Israel. Biography Yizhar Hess was born and educated in Jerusalem. He studied at Gymnasia Rehavia and was active in Tzofim (scouts). He has a BA in Hebrew Literature and Political Science from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, a degree in law from The Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya and an MA degree in Jewish Studies from the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies, and a Ph.D. from the Department of Philosophy of Education at Sussex University in Brighton, England. Brighton
Brighton ( ) is a seaside resort in the city status in the United Kingdom, city of Brighton and Hove, East Sussex, England, south of London. Shaliah
In Jewish law, a shaliaḥ (, ; pl. , ''sheliḥim'' or ''sheliah'', literally "emissary" or "messenger") is a legal agent. In practice, "the shaliaḥ for a person is as this person himself." The Jewish Agency for Israel (), formerly known as the Jewish Agency for Palestine, is the largest Jewish non-profit organization in the world. It was established in 1929 as the operative branch of the World Zionist Organization (WZO).
