Ying Fuk-tsang
Ying Fuk-tsang (Chinese: 邢福增) is a Christian historian and Professor at the Divinity School of Chung Chi College, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Biography Born and raised in Hong Kong, Ying attended Newman Catholic College for HKCEE (1982) and New Method College for A levels (1983). He received all of his tertiary education at the CUHK: Bachelor of Arts in History (1987), Master of Philosophy in Chinese church history (1989), and Doctor of Philosophy in Chinese church history (1995). His master thesis' topic is "The Adaptation of Religious Belief and Cultural Environment of Chinese Christians in the late Qing Dynasty (1860-1911)," supervised by Wang Erh Ming (Chinese: 王爾敏). His PhD topic is "Saving the Nations in Christianity: Xu Qian, Feng Yü-hsiang, and Zhang Zhijiang," supervised by Lau Yee-cheung and Leung Yuen-sang. Chung Chi College
The Chung Chi College is one of the constituent colleges of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and one of the three original colleges that joined to form the CUHK in 1963. Founded in 1951 by representatives of Protestant churches in Hong Kong, it was formally incorporated under the Chung Chi College Incorporation Ordinance in 1955. Among the colleges of CUHK, Chung Chi is the only one with a religious background. Alliance Bible Seminary
Alliance Bible Seminary (Abbreviation: ABS; ), is a C&MA seminary, located in Cheung Chau, Hong Kong. The seminary was originally founded in 1899 in Wuzhou, Guangxi, under the name Alliance Bible College. Established by missionaries Dr. Robert Glover and Robert A. Jaffray, ABS was the first C&MA seminary to be founded overseas, and one of the first seminaries in South China. In 1949, the seminary was moved to Cheung Chau, Hong Kong by Dr. William C. Newbern after the Communist takeover of mainland China. ABS was founded before any church plant and trained many of its students for missionary work. Francis Ching-wah Yip
Francis Ching-wah Yip (Chinese: 葉菁華; born 1967) is director and associate professor of divinity school of Chung Chi College (DSCCC), Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Biography Yip attended in Christian primary schools and was active in student fellowship during high school. He obtained a Bachelor of Social Science, major in Journalism at the CUHK. Between 1992 and 1995, he studied M.Div. at the DSCCC. before receiving a scholarship to do a Th.D. at Harvard Divinity School and graduated in 2004. His Ph.D. thesis was then published as a monograph, named ''Capitalism as Religion? A Study of Paul Tillich's Interpretation of Modernity.'' He joined the DSCCC in 2005 as assistant professor. Feng Yü-hsiang
Feng Yuxiang (; ; 6 November 1882 – 1 September 1948), courtesy name Huanzhang (焕章), was a warlord and a leader of the Republic of China from Chaohu, Anhui. He served as Vice Premier of the Republic of China from 1928 to 1930. He was also known as the "Christian General" for his zeal to convert his troops and the "Traitorous General" for his penchant to break with the establishment. In 1911 he was an officer in the ranks of Yuan Shikai's Beiyang Army but joined forces with revolutionaries against the Qing dynasty. He rose to high rank within Wu Peifu's Zhili warlord faction but launched the Beijing Coup in 1924 that knocked Zhili out of power and brought Sun Yat-sen to Beijing. He joined the Nationalist Party (KMT), supported the Northern Expedition and became blood brothers with Chiang Kai-shek, but resisted Chiang's consolidation of power in the Central Plains War and broke with him again in resisting Japanese incursions in 1933. Xu Qian or George Hsu (; June 15, 1871 – September 26, 1940) was a Chinese politician and jurist. He made important contribution to the judicial system of modern China. Originated from She County of Anhui province and born in Nanchang of Jiangxi province, Xu Qian passed the highest level of Imperial Examination in 1903 and obtained Jinshi title. He was sent abroad to inspect European and American legal affairs, and participated in the judicial reforms of the late Qing Dynasty. Under the Republic of China, he served as the chief legal officer and director of the school committee of National Wuchang Sun Yat-Sen University (now Wuhan University). He was active in the politics of both the Beiyang government and the Nationalist government for many years.
