Yey! (stylized as YeY! or YEY!) was a Philippine children's pay television channel created by ABS-CBN and was one of the freemium channels of ABS-CBN TV Plus. Yey! is the second animation channel of ABS-CBN after Hero TV (defunct), a cable channel owned by ABS-CBN's narrowcast arm Creative Programs. Yey! channel primarily airs Filipino-dubbed Japanese anime series and foreign cartoon shows, along with limited imported programming from ABS-CBN's main channel and Hero TV. History Digital free-to-air channel (2011–2020) Yey! was first known as a digital free-to-air channel that was first launched on January 3, 2011 in test broadcast. On February 11, 2015, Yey! became available on ABS-CBN TV Plus in the digital boxes's channel 4. Hero (TV Channel)
Hero (also known as Hero TV) was a 24-hour Philippine pay television channel created by ABS-CBN's narrowcast arm Creative Programs Inc. from 2005 to 2018. The programming was composed primarily of Filipino-dubbed Japanese anime series. It was dubbed as "The First and All Tagalog-dubbed Anime Channel in the Philippines." In February 2018, Hero was relaunched as a digital web portal operated by ABS-CBN Digital Media, providing limited news content on anime, pop culture and gaming. Background Much of the content in the channel is attributed to the fact that Creative Programs' parent company ABS-CBN (through its main network) has produced numerous dubs of anime series many years before the launch of Hero, as well as maintained an Animax airing block for quite sometime. ABS-CBN TV Plus (formerly Sky TV+ and stylized as ABS-CBN TVplus, repackaged in 2021 as ABS-CBN TVplus Digital TV Receiver) is a Philippine ISDB-T encrypted digital terrestrial television provider owned and operated by ABS-CBN Convergence, a subsidiary of ABS-CBN Corporation. The service distributes digital set-top boxes with freemium and free-to-view digital TV channels, Broadcast Markup Language, Emergency Warning Broadcast system, and pay per view services to selected areas in the Philippines. In order to avail the service, users must buy an ABS-CBN TVplus set-top box and activate it through ABS-CBNmobile SIM card; activation requirements for the digital channels through other mobile networks later became available around the second quarter of 2018.
