Yeti (Doctor Who)
The Yeti are fictional robots from the long-running British Science fiction on television, science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. They were originally created by writers Henry Lincoln and Mervyn Haisman and first appeared in the 1967 serial ''The Abominable Snowmen''. The Yeti resemble the cryptozoological creatures also called the Yeti. In the series' fictional universe, these robot Yeti serve the Great Intelligence, a formless entity with mysterious origins, and are used by the Intelligence to aid in its invasions. Following this debut appearance, the Yeti only had one other major appearance in the 1968 serial The Web of Fear, ''The Web of Fear'', which depicted the Yeti's being used by the Intelligence in its attempt to subjugate London using the London Underground. The concept of the Yeti arose as a result of a discussion between then-lead actor Patrick Troughton, Lincoln, and Haisman, and soon was pitched to the show's production office. Doctor Who Experience
Since the first broadcast of the British science-fiction television serial ''Doctor Who'' in 1963, there have been a number of exhibitions of Theatrical property, props, costumes and Theatrical scenery, sets relating to the show throughout the United Kingdom. Some have been intended to be permanent, and others seasonal; most have been staged at existing tourist locations. None are currently open to the public. Former permanent exhibitions Longleat (1973–2003) The first permanent exhibition was set up at the stately home of Longleat, Wiltshire in 1973, and ran until 2003. The site has also hosted annual ''Doctor Who'' conventions, usually in August. The twentieth anniversary convention was titled "Twenty Years of a Time Lord" and was held in April 1983. Peter Bryant
Peter Bryant (27 October 1923 – 19 May 2006) was an English television producer, script editor and former actor. He acted in '' The Grove Family'' as a regular cast member and later became the producer of '' Doctor Who'' from 1967 to 1969 during Patrick Troughton's tenure as the Second Doctor. He also produced the series '' Paul Temple'' before becoming a literary agent. Career Bryant was originally an actor and appeared in the 1950s soap opera '' The Grove Family''. Later, he became a BBC Radio announcer while writing radio scripts as a sideline. This led to him becoming a script editor in the Radio Drama Department and eventually the head of the Drama Script Unit. In 1967 he transferred from radio to television, where head of serials Shaun Sutton put him to work with script editor Gerry Davis on ''Doctor Who'' as a "Story Associate" then story editor. Doctor Who (season 5)
The fifth season of the British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who'' began on 2 September 1967 with the story '' The Tomb of the Cybermen'' and ended on 1 June 1968 with '' The Wheel in Space''. Only 22 out of 40 episodes are held in the BBC archives; 18 remain missing. As a result, only 2 serials exist entirely. However, ''The Abominable Snowmen'', '' The Ice Warriors'', '' The Web of Fear'', and '' Fury from the Deep'' have had their missing episodes reconstructed using animation. The Time Lords are a fictional ancient race of extraterrestrial people in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. Time Lords are so named for their command of time travel technology and their non-linear perception of time.
