Yes Bubble Logo
The Yes bubble logo, also known simply as the Yes logo, is a logo designed by the English artist Roger Dean for the progressive rock band Yes in 1971. The logo was first used on the Yes album ''Close to the Edge'', when it was first released on 8 September 1972. The original artwork for the logo is held in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the MAK Austrian Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna. The logo is listed in the NME's ''64 of the Most Beautiful Band Logos''. The earlier Yes logo called the speech bubble logo was first used on Yes' self-titled debut album and last used in 1997 on their '' Something's Coming: The BBC Recordings 1969–1970'' album. Roger Dean (artist)
William Roger Dean (born 31 August 1944), known as Roger Dean, is an English artist, designer, and publisher. He began painting posters and album covers for musicians in the late 1960s. The groups for whom he did the most art are the English rock bands Yes and Asia. The covers often feature exotic fantasy landscapes. His work has sold more than 150 million copies worldwide. Early life William Roger Dean was born on 31 August 1944 in Ashford, Kent. His mother studied dress design at Canterbury School of Art before her marriage and his father was an engineer in the British Army. He has three siblings, brother Martyn and sisters Penny and Philippa. Much of Dean's childhood was spent in Greece, Cyprus, and, from age 12 to 15, Hong Kong, so his father could carry out army duties. Dean was very keen on natural history as a child, and Chinese landscape art and feng shui became particular influences on him during his time in Hong Kong. Fragile (Yes Album)
''Fragile'' is the fourth studio album by the English progressive rock band Yes, released on 12 November 1971 by Atlantic Records. It was the band's first album to feature keyboardist Rick Wakeman, who replaced founding member Tony Kaye after the group had finished touring their breakthrough record, ''The Yes Album''. The band entered rehearsals in London in August 1971, but Kaye's reluctance to play electronic keyboards led to his departure from the group. He was quickly replaced by Wakeman, whose experience with the electric piano, organ, Mellotron, and Minimoog synthesiser expanded the band's sound. Due to budget and time constraints, four tracks on the album are group compositions; the remaining five are solo pieces written by each band member. The opening track, "Roundabout", became a popular and iconic song. The Design Council, formerly the Council of Industrial Design, is a United Kingdom charity incorporated by Royal Charter. Caroline Records is a record label originally founded in 1973. Initially founded in the United Kingdom to showcase British progressive rock groups, the label ceased releasing titles in 1976, and then re-emerged in the United States in 1986. The label released the work of American punk rock, thrash metal and new wave music bands. Conjoined twins – sometimes popularly referred to as Siamese twins – are twins joined '' in utero''. Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club is a jazz club that has operated in Soho, London, since 1959. History The club opened on 30 October 1959 in a basement at 39 Gerrard Street (London), Gerrard Street in London's Soho district. It was set up and managed by musicians Ronnie Scott and Pete King (saxophonist), Pete King. In 1965 it moved to a larger venue nearby at 47 Frith Street.
