''Yerma'' is a 1984 Hungarian drama film directed by Imre Gyöngyössy and Barna Kabay, based on the play of the same name written by Federico García Lorca. Mareike Carrière
Mareike Ann Carrière (26 July 1954 – 17 March 2014) was a German actress, spokesperson and translator. She was perhaps best known for her television show appearances. She was born in Hanover, Lower Saxony, West Germany. At the age of 16, she began her training at the Lübeck Drama School. After completing this, she caught up on her Abitur and studied English and French at the Sorbonne in Paris. She finished this study with a diploma as a translator. Carrière died from bladder cancer on 17 March 2014 in Hamburg, Germany. She was 59 years old. This is a list of submissions to the 57th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. For the 57th Academy Awards, thirty-two films were submitted in the category Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Thailand submitted a film for the first time. Hédi Temessy (Hedvig Temesi; 6 May 1925 – 29 May 2001) was a Hungarian actress. Active for over 50 years, she appeared on stage, in films, and on television. Her significant roles include playing Márta in Gergely Csiky's ''The Grandmother'' (''A nagymama''). Early life Hedvig Temesi was born on 6 May 1925, in Budapest. Her mother was originally from Alsace-Lorraine and her maternal grandfather was a master iron worker, who had immigrated to France from Graz. As a child, she learned German from her mother. After completing her education at the State Teacher Training Institute, she enrolled in the National Actors' School in Budapest just before the start of World War II. Three months before completing her training, Temesi refused to take the compulsory political courses, as her teaching certificate confirmed she had already successfully been examination on those subjects and she wanted to take more practical courses. Mathieu Carrière (; born 2 August 1950) is a German stage and screen actor with strong French connections. He has appeared in around 250 films worldwide and in 4000 hours of television. Carrière is also a director and a writer and is known as an advocate for the rights of fathers. Life Carrière was born near Hanover of two psychotherapists and grew up in Berlin and Lübeck. He attended the Jesuit boarding school Lycée Saint-François-Xavier in Vannes, France, a school which had previously been attended by the director of Carrière's first major film, Volker Schlöndorff.
