Yela Forest
Yela Ka Forest is a conservation area of ka trees ('' Terminalia carolinensis'') in the Yela Valley on the island of Kosrae in the Federated States of Micronesia. The trees are also found on the island of Pohnpei. A conservation easement, the first achieved outside the Americas, protects of the 1,400 acre (570 ha) valley. Kosrae
Kosrae ( ), formerly known as Kusaie or Strong's Island, is an island in the Caroline Islands archipelago, and States of Micronesia, state within the Federated States of Micronesia. It includes the main island of Kosrae, traditionally known as Ualung (which means the "high island"), and a few intercoastal islands and islets, the most significant of which (Lelu Island) is inhabited by 1,500 people. ''Terminalia carolinensis'', commonly known as the ka tree or keima tree, is a tree that grows on the Micronesian islands of Kosrae and Pohnpei. Pohnpei (formerly known as Ponape or Ascension, from Pohnpeian: "upon (''pohn'') a stone altar (''pei'')") is an island of the Senyavin Islands which are part of the larger Caroline Islands group.
