Yehiam
Yehiam () is a kibbutz in northern Israel. Located at the western Upper Galilee, eight miles east of the coastal town of Nahariya and 14 miles south-east of the border with Lebanon it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Asher Regional Council. In it had a population of . It is located around 365 meters above sea level Yehiam is situated next to the ruins of the Ottoman-era castle of Jiddin, built on top of the 13th-century Crusades, Crusader castle of Judin. Yehiam Convoy
The Yehiam convoy attack occurred on March 27, 1948, during the 1947–48 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine. A Haganah convoy had been sent from Haifa to reinforce and re-supply the kibbutz of Yehiam which was under attack by Arab forces. The convoy was ambushed and 47 Haganah personnel were killed. Background Ben Ami Pachter (born 1919) planned to lead a convoy on 21 March 1948, from Kiryat Haim near Haifa because supplies were short and the defenders of Kibbutz Yehiam were running out of ammunition. The 1947 United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine put Yehi'am within the limits of the Arab state rather than the Jewish one. Khirbat Jiddin
Khirbat Jiddin (), known in the Kingdom of Jerusalem as Judin, was an Ottoman fortress in the western Upper Galilee, originally built by the Teutonic Order after 1220 as a crusader castle, 16 km northeast of the city of Acre, which at the time was the capital of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. The castle was destroyed by the Mamluk sultan Baibars sometime between 1268-1271 and lay in ruins until being rebuilt and expanded by the Arab ruler Zahir al-Umar as ''Qal'at Jiddin'' () in the 1760s, only to be destroyed again around 1775 by Jazzar Pasha.Pringle et al., 1994. The ruined fortress, known as Khirbat Jiddin, was later inhabited by the al-Suwaytat Bedouin tribe. According to a 1945 census, there were 1500 Muslims living in the area. Khirbat Jiddin land totaled 7,587 dunums, of which, however, all but 34 were officially listed as non-cultivable; 4,238 were owned by Arabs and 3,349 dunums owned by Jews. Al-Kabri
Al-Kabri () was a Palestinian Arab town in the Galilee located northeast of Acre. It was captured by the Haganah 21 May 1948, a week after the State of Israel was declared. In 1945, it had a population of 1,530Khalidi, 1992, p. 19 and a total area cultivated of 20,617 dunams. It is near the site of Tel Kabri. Joseph Weitz
Yosef Weitz (; 1890–1972) was the director of the Land and Afforestation Department of the Jewish National Fund (JNF). From the 1930s, Weitz played a major role in acquiring land for the Yishuv, the pre-state Jewish community in the British Mandate of Palestine. In 1932, when Weitz joined the JNF, there were only 91,000 Jews in Palestine (about 10% of the population) who owned just 2% of the land. Weitz oversaw the program to purchase properties from absentee landlords and run the Palestinian tenant farmers off their land. However it soon became clear that the purchase of small lots of land would not get close to fulfilling the Zionism, Zionists' dream of creating a Jewish state, Jewish-majority state in the region of Palestine and that it would be necessary to force the exodus of the Arab population. Mateh Asher Regional Council
The Mateh Asher Regional Council (, ''Mo'atza Azorit Mateh Asher'') is a regional council in the western Galilee of northern Israel. It is named after the Tribe of Asher which had been allotted the region in antiquity according to the Book of Joshua (19:24–31). It was founded in 1982 as a merger of three regional councils: Ga'aton, Na'aman and Sulam Tzor. The council's offices are located on the east side of Highway 4, between Regba and Lohamei HaGeta'ot. The regional council was established in 1982, now stretches over 216,059 dunams and includes some 17,300 residents. As of 2018, the head of the regional council is Moshe Davidovich and the council's rabbi is Rabbi Shlomo Ben Eliyahu. Arab Liberation Army
The Arab Liberation Army (ALA; , better translated as Arab Rescue Army (ARA) or Arab Salvation Army (ASA), was an army of volunteers from Arab countries led by Fawzi al-Qawuqji. It fought on the Arab side in the 1948 Palestine war. It was set up by the Arab League as a counter to the Arab High Committee's Holy War Army, but in fact, the League and Arab governments prevented thousands from joining either force. At the meeting in Damascus on 5 February 1948 to organize Palestinian Field Commands, Northern Palestine was allocated to Qawuqji's forces although the West Bank was ''de facto'' already under the control of Transjordan. Hashomer Hatzair (, , 'The Young Guard') is a Labor Zionism, Labor Zionist, secular Jewish youth movement founded in 1913 in the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, Austria-Hungary. Kiryat Haim
Kiryat Haim ( ) is a neighborhood of Haifa. It is considered part of the Krayot cluster in the northern part of metropolitan Haifa. In 2008, Kiryat Haim had a population of just under 27,000. Kiryat Haim is within the municipal borders of the city of Haifa and lies on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. History Kibbutz Kfar Masaryk, a group formed in Petah Tikva in 1932 and originally known as "Czecho-Lita", as its members came from Czechoslovakia and Lithuania, moved to Bat Galim in 1933 and then to the sand dunes of Kiryat Haim, west of the railway.
