Yau Kom Tau Village (), sometimes transliterated as Yau Kam Tau Village, is a village located in the Yau Kom Tau (Tsuen Wan District), Yau Kom Tau area, west of Tsuen Wan, in Tsuen Wan District, Hong Kong. Administration Yau Kom Tau is a recognized village under the New Territories Small House Policy. It is one of the villages represented within the Tsuen Wan Rural Committee. For electoral purposes, Yau Kom Tau Village is part of the Lai To (constituency), Lai To constituency, which was formerly represented by Ronald Tse Man-chak until July 2021. History Yau Kom Tau Village was established in 1864 and settled by the Yang (surname), Yeung family from Yuen Long. Tsuen Wan Station
Tsuen Wan () is an MTR station on the . It is the only station on the Tsuen Wan line at ground level. It is located in the northern central part of Tsuen Wan New Town, New Territories West. The preceding station is . It was the westernmost station in the MTR system until the opening of the in 1998. It was also the northernmost station in the MTR system until the MTR–KCR merger. Nan Fung Centre () is a Commercial district, commercial and shopping centre in Castle Peak Road, Tsuen Wan, New Territories, Hong Kong, located nearby the MTR Tsuen Wan station and a bus terminus at its ground floor. It was developed by Nan Fung Group in 1983 and it is one of the earliest large-scale commercial centres in the district. Small House Policy
The Small House Policy (SHP, ) was introduced in 1972 in Hong Kong. The objective was to improve the then prevailing low standard of housing in the rural areas of the New Territories. The policy allows an indigenous male villager who is 18 years old and is descended through the male line from a resident in 1898 of a recognized village in the New Territories, an entitlement to one concessionary grant during his lifetime to build one house. The policy has generated debates and calls for amendments to be made.
