Yates Racing was an American stock car racing team that competed in NASCAR through the 2009 season, after which it merged into Richard Petty Motorsports. Previously known as Robert Yates Racing, the team was owned by Doug Yates, who has officially owned the team since his father Robert's retirement on December 1, 2007. The Yates family owned the team since purchasing it from Harry Ranier and J. T. Lundy in October 1988. The team was noted for its strong engine program and its success on superspeedways. Throughout most of its history, the team fielded Ford cars numbered 28, 38 and 88, although in its final season it fielded the number 98. Yates is a British pub chain. It was founded as Yates's Wine Lodge in Oldham, Lancashire by Peter and Simon Yates in 1884. History Yates is Britain's oldest pub chain. Its motto was ''moderation is true temperance''. The founders, brothers Peter and Simon Yates, were from Preston. Peter (who lived from April 22, 1854–1944) was sent to Spain to learn about wine. Yates County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 24,774, making it the third-least populous county in New York. The county seat is Penn Yan. The name is in honor of Joseph C. Yates, who as Governor of New York signed the act establishing the county. Yates County is included in the Rochester, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. Yates is a city in Sioux County, North Dakota, United States. It is the tribal headquarters of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and county seat of Sioux County. Since 1970 the population has declined markedly from more than 1,100 residents, as people have left for other locations for work. The population was 176 at the 2020 census. History A primarily Native American settlement developed here after a US Army post at this site was established in 1863 as the Standing Rock Cantonment, intended for the US Army garrison to oversee the Hunkpapa and Blackfeet bands, and the Inhunktonwan and Cuthead of the Upper Yanktonai, of the Lakota Oyate. Yates is a horticultural supply company primarily for the home gardening market in New Zealand and Australia. History Yates was founded in Auckland, New Zealand by Arthur Yates in 1883. In 1887, he opened a branch in Sussex St, Sydney, and left his brother, Ernest, in charge of the New Zealand store. They came to an agreement to run the stores separately until the 1980s, when the two companies joined together again. By 1893, Arthur started selling his seed packets for home gardeners. Yates began to sell other gardening items apart from seeds, and the range soon included fertiliser, sprays, pots, potting mix and tools.
