Yateley () is a town and civil parish in the English county of Hampshire. It lies in the north-eastern corner of Hart District Council area, and is approximately 33 mi (53 km) southwest of Central London. It includes the settlements of Frogmore and Darby Green to the east. Aldershot ( ) is a constituency in Hampshire represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament. The seat was represented by the Conservative Party from its creation in 1918 to the 2024 general election, when it was won by Alex Baker of the Labour Party. Sean Devereux
Sean Devereux (25 November 1964 – 2 January 1993) was a British Salesian missionary and aid worker assassinated in Kismayo, Somalia in 1993 while working for UNICEF. He has since become an important role model for the aid-working vocation, particularly among Christians. Life Sean Devereux was the only son of Dermot Devereux, a British Airways cabin steward from Wexford, Ireland, and his wife Maureen, a nurse from Cork. He grew up in Yateley, Hampshire with his two sisters, Theresa and Tania. He was educated at Salesian College, Farnborough and the University of Birmingham, obtaining his honours degree in Sports, Science, and Geography, and then training as a teacher at the University of Exeter. He became a popular master of Physical Education at the Salesian School, Chertsey, Surrey, teaching for two academic years before departing to take up a teaching position in Africa. Mytchett
Mytchett is a village in the borough of Surrey Heath, in Surrey, England. It is approximately south-west of central London and to the east of Farnborough, its nearest town. Much of the village dates from the first half of the twentieth century. Mytchett had a population of 4,624 in the 2011 Census. Geography The settlement commences at the foot of the heath known as the upper Bagshot Formation where it forms sandy and occasionally peat bog or marsh depressions, ridges and plains. Darby Green
Darby Green is a village in the parish of Yateley, North East Hampshire, England. The Wards of the United Kingdom, electoral ward of Frogmore, Hampshire, Frogmore and Darby Green is separated from the rest of the parish by a small gap around Clarks Farm, until recently a composting farm in the mushroom producing industry. The ward has a boundary shared with Blackwater, Hampshire, Blackwater, which is one part of the Civil Parish of Hawley, Hampshire, Hawley. Parson Darby was a local vicar and a highwayman; he was supposedly hung at the junction of the B3272 road, B3272 and Darby Green Road. The historian Sidney Loader was a resident of Yateley and lived near this spot. There used to be a tin church at the corner of the B3272 named for St Barnabas. This burned down in the 1980s and was replaced by a new St Barnabas in Bell Lane, close to Frogmore Green.
