Yashar Ali (born Yashar Ali Hedayat; November 23, 1979) is an American journalist who has contributed to ''HuffPost'', NBC News, and ''New York (magazine), New York'' magazine. Isaac Samuel Reggio
Isaac Samuel Reggio (YaShaR) (Hebrew: , ) (15 August 1784 – 29 August 1855) was an Austro-Italian scholar and rabbi. He was born and died in Gorizia. Biography Reggio studied Hebrew and rabbinics under his father, Abraham Vita, later rabbi of Gorizia, acquiring at the same time in the gymnasium a knowledge of secular science and languages. Reggio's father, one of the liberal rabbis who supported Hartwig Wessely, paid special attention to the religious instruction of his son, who displayed unusual aptitude in Hebrew, and at the age of fourteen wrote a metrical dirge on the death of Moses Ḥefeẓ, rabbi of Gorizia. Besides Italian, his mother tongue, Reggio knew French, German, and Latin, and he studied several Semitic languages in addition to Hebrew. ''Kav ha-Yashar'' (lit. ''The Just Measure''; קב הישר), authored by Tzvi Hirsch Kaidanover (c. 1648–1712), a rabbi at Frankfurt and son of Aaron Samuel Kaidanover, is an "ethical-kabbalistic collection of stories, moral guidance, and customs", Moshe Idel: and one of the most popular works of musar literature. It serves as a guide to " God-fearing piety and to preserving the norms of the community", framing its teachings in the context of " individual providence and the reckoning of sins and merits". Yashar LaChayal () ("Straight to the Soldier") is an Israeli non-profit organization established in 2006 that provides soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces with toiletries, relaxation corners, warm jackets, free food and beverages and other creature comforts. History During the Second Lebanon War in 2006, a group of volunteers drove hygienic supplies to soldiers stationed on the northern border of Israel. Dubbing the project "Operation Northern Points," they decided to continue their work after the war by founding the Yashar LaChayal organization. The organization's overhead expenses are paid for by a philanthropist. The name of the organization, Hebrew for "straight to the soldier," alludes to the fact that donations go towards the humanitarian needs of Israeli soldiers and not the organization's overhead costs. "Yashar" is a song by English industrial band Cabaret Voltaire. It first appeared on their 1982 album ''2x45''; two remixes by John Robie were released on a single the following year. A version of the song also appears on the live album ''Hai! (Live in Japan)''. The single was released in May 1983 on Factory Benelux (FBN 25) and Factory Records UK (FAC 82). It reached No. 6 on the UK Indie Chart.
