Yaroslav Rybakov
Yaroslav Vladimirovich Rybakov (, born November 22, 1980, in Mogilyev, Belarusian SSR) is a retired Russian high jumper. He is the 2002 European Champion high jumper, and at the 2005 World Championships he shared the silver medal with Víctor Moya of Cuba. In 2006 he won the World Indoor Championships, and finished fifth in the high jump final at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg. The next year he won his third World Championships silver medal in a new personal best jump of 2.35 metres. In 2009, he finally won gold at the World Championships in Berlin. His indoor personal best is 2.38 metres, set in February 2005 in Stockholm. Since then he has equalled the mark three times, which has included a meet record for the Hochsprung mit Musik. 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics was held between 12 and 14 March at the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar. The championships was the first of six IAAF World Athletics Series events to take place in 2010. Bidding and organisation The IAAF announced on March 25, 2007, at an IAAF Council meeting in Mombasa, Kenya that it had received bids from Turkey and Qatar to host the championships. Hochsprung Mit Musik
The ''Hochsprung mit Musik'' () is an annual indoor high jump meeting which takes place in February in Arnstadt, Germany. First held in 1977, the meeting began as a competition between mainly East German athletes. Following the Re-unification of Germany in 1990, the competition became international and attracted athletes such as Olympic and World champion Charles Austin and Olympic silver medallist Alina Astafei. Both the world record holders (Javier Sotomayor and Stefka Kostadinova) have taken part in, and won, the meeting. The ''Hochsprung mit Musik'' gets its name from the fact that music is played in the ''Sporthalle am Jahn-sportpark'' while athletes take their jump. It is used as a way of both building suspense and mirroring the steady rhythm needed by athletes to achieve a high jump. Víctor Rafael Moya Carvajal (born October 24, 1982, in Santiago de Cuba) is a Cuban high jumper. Career Relatively young, he participated in his first major competition in the 2005 World Championships where he cleared 2.29 metres, a new personal best, and won a surprise silver medal along with Yaroslav Rybakov. Two weeks later in Brussels he set another personal best with 2.31 m. At the 2005 World Athletics Final he improved it again to 2.35 metres. High Jump
The high jump is a track and field event in which competitors must jump unaided over a horizontal bar placed at measured heights without dislodging it. In its modern, most-practiced format, a bar is placed between two standards with a crash mat for landing. Since ancient times, competitors have introduced increasingly effective techniques to arrive at the current form, and the current universally preferred method is the Fosbury Flop, in which athletes run towards the bar and leap head first with their back to the bar. The discipline is, alongside the pole vault, one of two vertical clearance events in the Olympic athletics program. It is contested at the World Championships in Athletics and the World Athletics Indoor Championships, and is a common occurrence at track and field meets. 2005 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2005 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid, Palacio de Deportes in Madrid, the capital city of Spain, from Friday, 4 March to Sunday, 6 March 2005. This was the first edition to be held in an odd year since switching to the biennial format, so as not to occur in the same as the outdoor European Athletics Championships and also recently moved IAAF World Indoor Championships. To accommodate this change, there was a two-year gap since the previous edition. It also marked the last time that the 200 metres were contested at the event. Russia finished on top of the medal table with 17 medals including 9 gold and a clear lead over Sweden and France. The host nation Spain lost only to Russia on the number of medals but won only one gold and finished fifth overall.
