Yannick Shetty
Yannick Elias Shetty (born 26 April 1995) is an Austrian politician from NEOS – The New Austria and Liberal Forum. He was sworn in as a member of the National Council (Austria), National Council on 23 October 2019 following his election in the 2019 Austrian legislative election. Life Education and early career Shetty was born in Vienna as the son of an Indian father and an Austrian mother with Koreans, Korean ancestry. He grew up in Innsbruck, where he attended the Akademisches Gymnasium Innsbruck from 2005 and Matura, graduated there in 2013. After completing his community service in 2013/14 as a paramedic with the Austrian Red Cross, he began studying law at the University of Vienna in 2015, which he successfully completed with a master's degree in March 2021. In 2016 and 2017 he worked for Dorda Rechtsanwälte. Shetty was also a legal assistant at ''Herbst Kinsky Rechtsanwälte GmbH'' from 2018 to 2020. NEOS – The New Austria And Liberal Forum
NEOS – The New Austria and Liberal Forum () is a Liberalism in Austria, liberal political party in Austria. It was founded as NEOS – The New Austria in 2012. In 2014, NEOS merged with Liberal Forum and adopted its current name. Since 2018, Beate Meinl-Reisinger has been NEOS's chairwoman and was parliamentary leader until 2025, with Yannick Shetty taking over the position. It won 8.3% in the 2019 Austrian legislative election, 2019 legislative election and 9.1% in the 2024 Austrian legislative election. 2017 Austrian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Austria on 15 October 2017 to elect the 26th National Council, the lower house of Austria's bicameral parliament. The snap election was called when the coalition government between the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) and Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) was dissolved in May by the latter party's new leader Sebastian Kurz. The ÖVP took a strong lead in opinion polls after Kurz's confirmation as leader, and emerged as the largest party in the election, with 31.5% of the vote and 62 of the 183 seats in the National Council. The SPÖ finished second with 52 seats, just ahead of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which won 51 seats. NEOS was fourth with 10 seats.
