Yunnan Baiyao
Yunnan Baiyao (or Yunnan Paiyao; ) is a proprietary traditional Chinese medicine marketed and used as a hemostatic product in both human and veterinary alternative medicine. Although Yunnan Baiyao has long been recognized as a pharmaceutical preparation in China, the safety and efficacy of Yunnan Baiyao has not been assessed or established by the FDA, the European Medicines Agency, or the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration. There is limited evidence regarding its effectiveness in preventing and treating hemorrhagic and pathological conditions in both humans and animals via oral administration. In a limited number of human studies of small sample sizes, administration of Yunnan Baiyao has been shown to correlate with "reduced perioperative bleeding as well as bleeding in various ulcerative–hemorrhagic conditions". It has become popular particularly for animals with hemangiosarcoma. There are multiple routes of drug administration. Yunnan Baiyao is sold in powder ...

History Kunming Uprising When the 1911 Revolution began, Cai E, the commander of the 37th Brigade of the New Army, revolted against the Qing government and quickly gained control over Yunnan. The local Qing administration was replaced with an independent government and educational reforms were enacted by Cai. He also reorganised the provincial military into a more cohesive independent force. In the following six months, all of Yunnan and southern Sichuan were unified under the clique's rule. Cai E was very popular among people because he denounced factionalism and supported a strong central government. In 1913, Cai E went to serve in Yuan's government in Beijing, leaving behind Tang Jiyao as provincial governor. Jiyao came from a prominent Yunnanese family. That same year the Yunnan provincial poli ...

Yunnan Under Ming Rule
Yunnan under Ming rule refers to the rule of the Ming dynasty in Yunnan, which saw the continuation of the ''tusi'' system instituted during the Yuan dynasty, increasing centralization, and Han migration into Yunnan. Conquest of Yunnan The Ming dynasty conquered Yunnan in April 1382. Prior to the conquest, Yunnan was held by Basalawarmi, an imperial prince of the Yuan dynasty who remained loyal to the rump state of Northern Yuan. The ruling Duan family was removed from power. Duan Ming and his two sons were taken to Nanjing, where they were assigned honorary posts without any power. Mu Ying, one of the generals who participated in the conquest, was stationed in Yunnan, and his family remained in power until the end of the Ming dynasty. Administrative history Zongbing In 1384, the Hongwu Emperor decided to station Mu Ying in Yunnan permanently. The Mu clan held the hereditary military position of ''zongbing'', or commander-in-chief, the highest military position in Yunnan. ...

This 10 cm long parrotbill is endemic to China, breeding in northwest Yunnan. The Yunnan lake newt (''Cynops wolterstorffi'') is an extinct species of newt in the family Salamandridae, and was also known as Wolterstorff's newt. It was only found near the Kunming Lake in Yunnan, China. It was found in shallow lake waters and adjacent freshwater habitats.
