Yankuba Badjie was Director-General of the State Intelligence Services (The Gambia), National Intelligence Agency under former President Yahya Jammeh from December 2013 to 2016. History He was born in New Jeshwang in Kanifing (Gambia). His father, Arabou Badjie, is ethnically Jola, while his mother, Binta Daffeh, is a Mandinka from Brikama Kabadaa. He went to Kandiba Primary School in New Jeshwang and failed his Common Entrance Exam before proceeding to Crab Island Secondary School in the capital, Banjul. After his second year at Crab Island, he transferred to an Islamic school. After completing high school, he briefly worked in The Gambia before he relocated to the United States as an economic migrant alongside his brother Yusupha Badjie. Yankuba Ceesay (born 26 June 1984), also known as Maal, is a Gambian football coach and former player A midfielder, he made seven appearances for the Gambia national team. Club career When Ceesay joined Alianza Atlético of Peru, he became the first Gambian to play professional football in Latin America. He also had a brief trial with Walsall F.C. in January 2008. In 2008, he joined the Swedish club Degerfors IF, and for the first time he represented the Gambia national team in a match against Senegal. Lieutenant General Yankuba Drammeh is a Gambian military officer who is the current Chief of the Defence Staff of the Gambia. Military career At the time of the 1994 coup d'état, executed by Yahya Jammeh, Drammeh was a Second Lieutenant in the Gambian Army. Like many other officers not involved in the coup, he was detained in the Mile II Central Prison but later released and restored to his previous role. Drammeh was a brigadier general and Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff prior to his dismissal from the army by Yahya Jammeh on 30 November 2009. He was arrested and detained while links to Lang Tombong Tamba's alleged attempted coup were explored. Yankuba Jarju (born 20 August 1996) is a Gambian professional footballer who plays as a forward for club Quevilly-Rouen. Club career Jarju started his career in his native Gambia, with Real Banjul, before spending a season with Génération Foot in Senegal. Yankuba Minteh (born 22 July 2004) is a Gambian professional footballer who plays as a right winger for club Brighton & Hove Albion and the Gambia national team. Club career OB Minteh started his career at Steve Biko FC in The Gambia. Minteh's agent Bakary Bojang asked Danish club OB to have a look at Minteh and a fellow Gambian, Dawda Darboe. They were both called in for a try-out in the summer of 2021, playing for OB in their preparation ahead of the 2021–22 season. Minteh didn't leave a good impression, but he got a second chance at a try-out, and that was a way better impression. In the summer of 2022, he signed a two-year contract with OB. Yankuba Sonko
Yankuba Sonko is a Gambian police officer who was the Inspector General of Police in the Gambia from 2010 to 2014, and from 2015 to 2017. Career Sonko joined the Gambia Police Force in 1982 and was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 1984, and to Cadet Officer in 1988. He studied at the Nigerian Police Training School in 1990, and, upon his return in 1991, he helped to found the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) and was posted to Barra Police Station in the North Bank Region. He was appointed as the force's first Public Relations Officer (PRO) in 1993 and was posted to Kanifing Division as second-in-command in 1994. In 1995, he became the officer commanding Kanifing Division.
