Yanco is a village in Leeton Shire in south western New South Wales, Australia. Yanco is a Wiradjuri aboriginal language word meaning ''the sound of running water''. Yanco is located from Leeton along Irrigation Way. Yanco is home to the Powerhouse Museum, McCaughey Park, Murrumbidgee Rural Studies Centre and Yanco Agricultural High School. Yanco Agricultural High School
The Yanco Agricultural High School, abbreviated as YAHS, is a government-funded co-educational academically selective and specialist secondary boarding school, located in Yanco in the Leeton Shire local government area, in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. Yanco Agricultural High School is one of four government agricultural high schools; and is the only residential boarding school in New South Wales to have no day students. The school serves the south of New South Wales and Victoria, with the other agricultural high schools serving the other regions of the state. Group 20 Rugby League
Group 20 is a rugby league competition in the region of Griffith, New South Wales, Australia. The competition is played in six grades, with these being Under 16s, Under 18s, Women's League-Tag, Women's Tackle, Reserve Grade and First Grade. Currently, a home and away season consisting of eighteen rounds is played. The best five teams then play-off according to the McIntyre system, culminating in the Group 20 Grand Final, which is traditionally held at E.W. Yanco Weir
Yanco Weir is a heritage-listed weir at Yanco, Leeton Shire, New South Wales, Australia. It was built from 1928 to 1929 by WC & IC. It is also known as Yanco Weir and site. The property is owned by Department of Planning and Infrastructure, a department of the Government of New South Wales. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. History The 1929 Yanco Weir was built 1928-9 to divert flows from the Murrumbidgee River to the Yanko, Colombo and Billabong Creeks System for irrigation. Yanco Powerhouse Museum
Yanco Powerhouse Museum is located at Binya Street in Yanco, New South Wales, Australia. Yanco Power Station was built in 1913 to supply power to the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, when power was required for general lightning and for the Leeton Butter Factory. Irrigation Way is a major rural road that runs approximately through the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area in south western New South Wales, Australia. Route Irrigation Way commences at the intersection with Newell Highway in Narrandera and heads in a north-westerly direction for before reaching Leeton, continuing another before ending at the intersection with Kidman Way in Griffith. Wamoon
Wamoon is a village in Leeton Shire in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. Wamoon is located from Leeton along the Irrigation Way to the Leeton CBD and Henry Lawson Drive to the Leeton suburb of Wattle Hill. Wamoon provides a village of homes to the farmers of northern Leeton and there is a small primary school known as Wamoon Public School. Wamoon Post Office opened in July 1920 and closed in 1983. In 1993 Geographical Names Board of New South Wales deleted Wamoon when the village was removed from official government publication of locality names.
