Marie Yanaka
is a Japanese news caster, commentator, journalist and the 2011 winner of the Miss Nippon ("Miss Japan" in Japanese) beauty pageant. She graduated from the faculty of law at Keio University. Biography Yanaka spent much of her youth with her family posted in other countries. She spent four years in Singapore, and another four years in the United States. Her father was working near the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. She says following the news, that day, while waiting to learn if her father was safe, was what inspired her to become a newscaster. She was hired as one of the host's of business oriented television show in September 2011. French jeweller Louis Golay International designed Yanaka's tiara. Yanaka, Tokyo
Yanaka (谷中) is a sector of Taito, Tokyo, Japan and, along with nearby Nezu, Tokyo, Nezu and Sendagi neighborhoods in Bunkyo ward, is one of the few Tokyo neighborhoods in which the old Shitamachi atmosphere can still be felt. Located north of Ueno, Tokyo, Ueno, Yanaka includes the large Yanaka Cemetery, which takes up most of Yanaka 7-chome. The Daimyo Clock Museum is also in Yanaka. There are around 70 privately owned small stores in Yanaka. Education Taito City Board of Education operates public elementary and junior high schools. Yanaka 2-7-chome and portions of 1-chome are zoned to Yanaka Elementary School (谷中小学校). Portions of Yanaka 1-chome are zoned to Shinobu Gaoka Elementary School (:ja:台東区立忍岡小学校, 忍岡小学校). Yanaka Cemetery
is a large cemetery located north of Ueno in Yanaka 7-chome, Taito, Tokyo, Japan. The Yanaka sector of Taito is one of the few Tokyo neighborhoods in which the old Shitamachi atmosphere can still be felt. The cemetery is famous for its beautiful cherry blossoms in April that completely cover its paths, and for that reason that its central street is often called Cherry-blossom Avenue. Description Although renamed over 85 years ago, the cemetery is still often called by its old official name, , and not ''Yanaka Reien''. It has an area of over 100 thousand square meters and hosts about 7 thousand graves. The cemetery has its own police station and a small walled enclosure dedicated to the Tokugawa clan, family of the 15 Tokugawa ''shōguns'' of Japan, which however is closed to the public and must be peeked at through double barred gates.
