Yan Ni (volleyball)
Yan Ni (; born 2 March 1987) is a Chinese retired volleyball player who won the gold medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics. On club level, she played for Liaoning. She announced her retirement from volleyball in November 2021. Career Yan won the gold medal in the 2015 World Cup, 2016 Summer Olympics, and 2019 World Cup with China women's national volleyball team. Yan was awarded the Best Middle Blocker at 2018 FIVB World Championship and 2019 World Cup. In 2014 AVC cup, Yan won both the MVP and Best Middle Blocker awards. Yan (surname)
Yan is a surname in several languages and the pinyin romanization for several Chinese surnames, including " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()" in simplified (traditional) form. These characters are romanised as ''Yen'' in the Wade–Giles romanization system which was commonly used before the early 80s. As such, individuals and institutions who had to romanize their Chinese names prior to that time, such as when having their books translated or publishing manuscripts outside of China, used "Yen" instead of "Yan". FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League
The FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League is an international volleyball competition contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The first tournament took place between May and July 2018, with the final taking place in Nanjing, China. United States won the inaugural edition, defeating Turkey in the final. In July 2018, the FIVB announced that China would host the next three editions of the women's Volleyball Nations League Finals, from 2019–2021, but on March 13, 2020, the Federation decided to postpone the Nations League until after the 2020 Summer Olympics due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. The Asian Women's Volleyball Cup, also known as the AVC Cup for Women, was an international volleyball competition in Asia and Oceania contested by the top senior women's national teams of the members of Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the sport's continent governing body. The tournaments have been awarded every two years since 2008. The current champion is Japan, which won its first title at the 2022 tournament.
