Yamil Bukele
Yamil Alejandro Bukele Pérez (born 23 January 1978) is a Salvadoran-Colombian sports executive, businessman, and former basketball player. Bukele has served as the director of the National Institute of Sports of El Salvador (INDES) since 2019 and as a member of the FIBA Central Board since 2023. From 2019 to 2023, he also served as the second vice president of FIBA Americas. Early life Yamil Alejandro Bukele Pérez was born on 23 January 1978 on the Colombian island of San Andrés. His parents were Armando Bukele Kattán and Bernarda Rosa Pérez Pomare and was the couple's only child. His father was of Palestinian ancestry and his mother was of Colombian ancestry. Bukele has nine half-siblings through his father, including Nayib Bukele who has served as President of El Salvador since 2019. The National Institute of Sports of El Salvador (; INDES), is the entity in charge of managing and promoting sport in El Salvador. It is a government institution but it is decentralized and autonomous. It handles around 37 sports disciplines. History INDES was founded 28 June 1980 by Decree 300 of the Revolutionary Government. The Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (, abbreviated FMLN) is a Salvadoran political party and former guerrilla rebel group. The FMLN was formed as an umbrella group on 10 October 1980, from five leftist guerrilla organizations; the Farabundo Martí Popular Liberation Forces (FPL), the People's Revolutionary Army (ERP), the National Resistance (RN), the Communist Party of El Salvador (PCES) and the Revolutionary Party of the Central American Workers (PRTC). Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez (; born 24 July 1981) is a Salvadoran politician and businessman who has served as the 81st president of El Salvador since 2019. In 1999, Bukele established an advertising company and worked at an advertising company owned by his father, Armando Bukele Kattán. Both companies advertised election campaigns for the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) political party. Bukele entered politics in 2011. The National Stadium of El Salvador () is a 50,000-seat multi-purpose stadium under construction in Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Salvador intended as a replacement for the El Salvador national football team's current stadium, Estadio Cuscatlán. The stadium is being built on the site of the former Captain General Gerardo Barrios Military School. The construction of the US$500 million stadium began on 8 September 2022. It will be the second modern sport and event arena to be built in Central America. Once built it will have a hotel outside the stadium, auditorium, medical clinic, rooms inside the stadium, administrative offices, and a multi-sports area outside the stadium with beach soccer, basketball courts, fast football fields and a parking area for 2,000 vehicles. The Copa El Salvador is the top knock-out Association football, football tournament in El Salvador. The first edition was played in 1999, resulting champion C.D. Águila of El Salvador. From 2000 to 2006, the competition was played two more times with Atlético Balboa and Once Municipal winning the cup. After a lengthy hiatus that began in 2006, was restored in 2016 The cup is currently sponsored by Claro and thus officially known as the Copa Claro.
