Y Llais
is a Welsh-language singing reality competition television series. Created by John de Mol and Roel van Velzen, it premiered on S4C on 9 February 2025. Based on the original Dutch singing competition ''The Voice of Holland'' and part of ''The Voice'' franchise, the series aims to discover unsigned singing talent—including solo artists, duets, and trios, both professional and amateur—through public auditions. The show is presented by BBC Radio 1 presenter Sian Eleri. In 2024, WalesOnline confirmed that the first series of the Welsh-language edition of ''The Voice'' was in production. Y Llais is produced by Boom Cymru, a subsidiary of ITV Studios. The first season aired in 2025. The series features a panel of four coaches who critique the artists' performances and mentor their teams throughout the competition. Bryn Terfel
Bryn Terfel Jones (; born 9 November 1965), is a Welsh bass-baritone opera and concert singer. Terfel was initially primarily associated with the roles of Mozart, particularly '' Figaro'', '' Leporello'' and ''Don Giovanni,'' but he has subsequently shifted his attention to heavier roles, especially those by Puccini and Wagner. Biography Terfel was born in Pant Glas, Caernarfonshire, Wales, the son of a farmer. His first language is Welsh. He chose Bryn Terfel as his professional name to avoid confusion with another Welsh baritone, Delme Bryn-Jones. He had an interest in and talent for music from a young age. A family friend taught him how to sing, starting with traditional Welsh songs. S4C Original Programming
S4C (, ''Sianel Pedwar Cymru'', meaning ''Channel Four Wales'') is a Welsh language free-to-air Public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom, public broadcast television channel. Launched on 1 November 1982, it was the first television channel to be aimed specifically at a Welsh-speaking audience. ''Y Llais'' (Welsh for ' The Voice') is a Welsh television music competition aimed at discovering new singing talent. The first series premiered on February 9, 2025, on S4C, S4C Clic, and BBC iPlayer. Sian Eleri served as the host for this series. Yws Gwynedd is a Welsh rock band from North Wales named for its lead singer Ywain Gwynedd. ''The Voice'' is an international reality television singing competition franchise originally created by Dutch producer John de Mol Jr. and Dutch singer VanVelzen, Roel van Velzen. ''The Voice of Holland'', also known by its acronym ''TVOH'', is a Dutch singing reality competition television series that became a global TV format franchise, created by media tycoon John de Mol Jr. and musician Roel van Velzen in the Netherlands and airs on RTL 4.
