Xia Jingru
Xia Jingru ( zh, 夏景如, 1893 – 7 July 1974) was a Chinese educator and politician. She was among the first group of women elected to the Legislative Yuan in 1948. The Legislative Yuan () is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for four-year terms by people of the Taiwan Area through a parallel voting system. Originally located in Nanjing, the Legislative Yuan, along with the National Assembly (electoral college) and the Control Yuan (upper house), formed the tricameral parliament under the original 1947 Constitution. The Kuomintang (KMT) is a major political party in the Republic of China (Taiwan). 1948 Chinese Legislative Election
The 1st Legislative Yuan election was held in Republic of China (1912–1949), China between 21 and 23 January 1948. This election, and the preceding 1947 Chinese National Assembly election, 1947 National Assembly election are the first elections of under the newly ratified 1947 Constitution of the Republic of China.
