Xavier Ramonède
Xavier Ramonède is a French animator and artist, best known for his work on various French films and international co-productions, such as '' Nocturna'' and '' The Illusionist'', the French webseries ', and his award-winning student film ''Le Building''. Ramonède's artwork has also been featured in multiple publications. Early life and education Ramonède hails from Toulouse. He first became interested in drawing at the age of fourteen, after discovering manga. Over the following two years, he developed a strong passion for animation. After meeting Romain Grandjean in high school, Ramonède was brought on as an animator and designer on Grandjean's 2002 stop motion short film ''Abraxas''. Although Ramonède was inspired by ''Toy Story'' to pursue a career in computer animation, he changed course to pursue traditional animation after applying to Gobelins, l'École de l'image. Miroslav Šašek
Miroslav Šašek (November 18, 1916, Prague – May 28, 1980, Wettingen, Switzerland) was a Czechoslovak émigré author and illustrator, best known for a series of books for children, originally published by W. H. Allen & Co., titled '' This Is...,'' which he signed M. Sasek. Šašek's family background was in milling: the family operated the ''"Lucký mlýn"'' mill at Chodovlice in northwest Bohemia. His father worked as an insurance agent to the south of Prague in Sedlčany, but died in 1926, after which he moved with his mother to Prague. In 1947 Miroslav Šašek moved with his wife Jindřiška (née Tumlířová) to Paris and started studying at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. Mary Blair
Mary Blair (born Mary Browne Robinson; October 21, 1911 – July 26, 1978) was an American artist, animator, and designer. She was prominent in producing art and animation for The Walt Disney Company, drawing concept art for such films as '' Alice in Wonderland'', '' Peter Pan'', ''Song of the South'' and ''Cinderella''.. James Baxter (animator)
James Baxter is a British character animator. He was first known for his work on several Walt Disney Animation Studios films, including various characters in ''Who Framed Roger Rabbit'', Belle in ''Beauty and the Beast'', Rafiki in ''The Lion King'', and Quasimodo in '' The Hunchback of Notre Dame''. Milt Kahl
Milton Erwin Kahl (March 22, 1909 – April 19, 1987) was an American animator. He was one of (and often considered the most influential of) Walt Disney's supervisory team of animators, known as Disney's Nine Old Men. Biography Kahl was born in San Francisco, California, to Erwin, a saloon bartender, and Grace Kahl. He had three younger sisters, Dorothy, Marion, and Gladys. He would often refine character sketches from Bill Peet, incorporating ideas of Ken Anderson. The final look of many characters in the Disney films was designed by Kahl, in his angular style inspired by Ronald Searle and Picasso. He is revered by contemporary masters of the form such as Andreas Deja, and also Brad Bird, who was his protégé at Disney in the early 1970s. Jamie Christopher Hewlett (born 3 April 1968) is a British comic book artist and illustrator. He is the co-creator of the comic book ''Tank Girl'' with Alan Martin (writer), Alan Martin and the virtual band Gorillaz, alongside Blur (band), Blur frontman Damon Albarn. The Ottawa International Animation Festival is an annual animated film and media festival that takes place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The OIAF was founded in 1975, with the first festival held from August 10 to 15 in 1976. Initially organized by the Canadian Film Institute on a biennial basis and with the co-operation of the International Animated Film Association, the Festival organization now remains in the hands of the CFI. It moved from a biennial to an annual festival in 2005.
