Xavier Coates (born 12 March 2001) is a professional rugby league footballer who plays as a er for the Melbourne Storm in the National Rugby League and Papua New Guinea at international level. He previously played for the Brisbane Broncos. He has played for Queensland in the State of Origin series. Early life Coates was born in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea to a mother from the Gulf Province in PNG and an Australian father. As an infant he moved with his family to Australia and initially spent two years living in Cairns before settling on the Gold Coast. He attended Marymount College throughout his upbringing and began pursuing an athletics career in primary school. The Newcastle Knights are an Australian professional rugby league team based in Newcastle, New South Wales that competes in the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership. The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks are an Australian professional rugby league club based in the Sutherland Shire of Southern Sydney, Southern Sydney, New South Wales. The 2019 Oceania Cup was the inaugural edition of the Oceania Cup (rugby league), Oceania Cup. Contested by six teams, the competition began in June and concluded in November. The Samoa national rugby league team represents Samoa in rugby league football and has participated in international competition since 1986. Known as Western Samoa before 1997, the team is administered by Rugby League Samoa and are nicknamed Toa Samoa (English language, English: ''Samoan Warriors''). Redcliffe Dolphins are a semi-professional rugby league club based in Redcliffe, Queensland, Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. Founded in 1947, they were accepted into the Brisbane Rugby League premiership (rugby league competition), Brisbane Rugby League (BRL) premiership competition in 1960, and since 1996 have played in the Queensland Cup. The Tweed Heads Seagulls, often referred to simply as Tweed or Seagulls or Tweed Seagulls, is a rugby league club based in Tweed Heads, New South Wales. It is one of only two club teams based outside of Queensland to play in the Queensland Cup, along with the PNG Hunters.
