XHUPC-FM
XHIPN-FM (95.7 MHz), known as Radio IPN, is the radio station of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional in Mexico City. The studios are located at the IPN's Allende Continuing Education Center; the transmitter is located atop Cerro del Chiquihuite. XHIPN-FM broadcasts in HD. History Radio IPN traces its roots to 1984, when it was conceived as a teaching and instructional tool for students in the communications and electrical engineering programs. At that time, the IPN applied to the SCT in order to obtain a permit for the station and to begin intermittent operations on 95.7 MHz, which was issued on February 25, 1987. Located at the Unidad Profesional Culhuacán—later the Superior School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (ESIME) Culhuacán—it was given the call letters XHUPC-FM. The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (''Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes'', SICT) of Mexico is the national federal entity that regulates commercial road traffic and broadcasting. Its headquarters are in the Torre Libertad on Reforma in Mexico City but some aspects of the department still function at the old headquarters located at the intersection of Eje Central and Eje 4 Sur (Xola). The building is decorated with murals created by arranging small colored stones on the building's outer walls. Radio France Internationale, usually referred to as RFI, is the state-owned international radio broadcaster of France. XHUAM-FM, known as UAM Radio, is the radio station of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, established in 2011. History Single-frequency network UAM Radio originally broadcast on 94.1 FM from five 20-watt transmitters at various UAM facilities, each of which is located at a different UAM facility in Mexico City: *XHUAMR-FM at the General Rectory, which houses the studio facilities *XHUAMA-FM at the Unidad Azcapotzalco *XHUAMC-FM at the Unidad Cuajimalpa *XHUAMI-FM at the Unidad Iztapalapa *XHUAMX-FM at the Unidad Xochimilco It is estimated that the transmitter network covered 70% of Mexico City. XEUN-FM
XEUN-FM is a radio station in Mexico City. Broadcasting on 96.1 FM, XEUN-FM is owned by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) as a sister to XEUN-AM 860 and XHUNAM-TDT 20. History XEUN-FM signed on July 16, 1959, from a transmitter located on the Torre Rectoría (Rectory Tower), broadcasting with 1 kW of power. XEUN-FM's power was increased to 50 kW when the station moved to new facilities in 1976. In 1992, the FM station moved to a new tower in Ajusco, on land that had been donated to UNAM in 1986 by the government of the Federal District; the move decreased the station's power to 35 kW, which then increased to its current 100 kW with another new transmitter in 1995. HD Radio
HD Radio (HDR) is a trademark for an in-band on-channel (IBOC) digital radio broadcast technology. It generally simulcasts an existing analog radio station in digital format with less noise and with additional text information. HD Radio is used primarily by AM and FM radio stations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with a few implementations outside North America. The term "on channel" is a misnomer because the system actually broadcasts on the ordinarily unused channels adjacent to an existing radio station's allocation. This leaves the original analog signal intact, allowing enabled receivers to switch between digital and analog as required. In most FM implementations, from 96 to 128 kbps of capacity is available. Cerro Del Chiquihuite
Cerro del Chiquihuite (Chiquihuite Hill) is a hill located in the north of Mexico City, in the borough of Gustavo A. Madero and bordering the municipality of Tlalnepantla de Baz in the State of Mexico. The hill has a height of above sea level and forms part of the Sierra de Guadalupe mountain range. It was used as a filming location for the 1993 Mexican film ''Lolo''. In 2021, a landslide occurred in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood located in Tlalnepantla de Baz, State of Mexico. Geology The Cerro del Chiquihuite is a volcanic exogenic dome made of andesitic rock deposited in layers of varying thickness that show signs of extreme weathering. Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience.
