XHNEZ-FM
XHNEZ-FM is a community radio station broadcasting to Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, State of Mexico on 97.3 FM. It is known as En Neza Radio and owned and operated by concessionaire Voces Urbanas, Movimiento Alternativo de Información Social (''Urban Voices, Alternative Social Information Movement''). History En Neza Radio has been operating in some or other form since 1996, with the goal of improving Neza's poor image in the media. In 2012, Voces Urbanas applied to Cofetel for a radio station permit; it was the second request the group had made, after an unfruitful 2004 application to the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation. In 2015, their application was denied by the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT), which had replaced Cofetel. Voces Urbanas filed an '' amparo'' lawsuit against the IFT, which ended with a favorable ruling for the station. Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl
Nezahualcóyotl (), or more commonly Neza, is a city and municipal seat of the municipalities of Mexico, municipality of Nezahualcóyotl in Mexico. It is located in the List of states of Mexico, state of State of Mexico, Mexico, adjacent to the east side of Mexico City. The municipality comprises its own intrastate region, Region IX (Mexico State). It was named after Nezahualcoyotl (tlatoani), Nezahualcoyotl, the Acolhua poet and king of nearby Texcoco (Aztec site), Texcoco, which was built on the drained bed of Lake Texcoco. The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (''Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes'', SICT) of Mexico is the national federal entity that regulates commercial road traffic and broadcasting. Its headquarters are in the Torre Libertad on Reforma in Mexico City but some aspects of the department still function at the old headquarters located at the intersection of Eje Central and Eje 4 Sur (Xola). XHECA-FM is a community radio station in Amecameca, State of Mexico, broadcasting on 97.3 FM. The station's concession is held by La Voladora Comunicación, A.C., and the station is known as La Voladora. XHECA is a member of AMARC México. History The 1999 UNAM strike sowed the seeds for a number of community radio stations across Mexico, including La Voladora, as well as XHCD-FM in Hermosillo. During the strike, students operated a radio station known as "La Ke Huelga". Several people involved with that station, and with other similar projects, banded together to form a new station project known as La Voladora ("The Flyer"). Initially conceived as being a moving, 20-watt FM radio station that would visit rural areas. Amecameca
Amecameca is a municipality located in the eastern panhandle of Mexico State between Mexico City and the Iztaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl volcanos of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. It is located on federal highway 115 which leads to Cuautla, which is called the Volcano Route (Ruta de los Volcanes).
