XHHS-FM/XEHS-AM is a radio station on 90.9 FM and 540 AM in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. It is owned by Radio Sistema del Noroeste and carries the La Mejor grupera format from MVS Radio. History XEHS-AM 1280 received its concession on November 16, 1957. The 250-watt station was owned by Benito L. Juárez, and in the 1960s, Juárez sold XEHS to Manuel Ceferino Pérez Alvarado. Control was soon after consolidated in a corporation. In the 1990s, XEHS moved to 540 kHz, enabling a daytime power increase to 5,000 watts and a nighttime bump to 2,500 watts. XHHS-FM was approved in 2010, and in 2015, XHHS-FM was authorized to increase power from 4 to 25 kW. XEHS-AM remains on the air in a continuity obligation, to serve 27,552 people in its coverage area unserved by any other broadcast service. XHMPM-FM is a Spanish-language Top 40 radio station located in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. It broadcasts on 98.9 MHz on FM from a tower located on Cerro La Memoria in Los Mochis. History On November 2, 1980, Radio Topolobampo, S.A. signed on XEIF-AM on 1240 kHz, with transmitter located at Charay, Sinaloa. XEIF changed calls twice: to XEREY-AM, matching its name as Radio Reyna, and then by 1994 to XEMPM-AM, now on 1030 kHz, known as Radio Fama. In 2010, the station changed its name to La Pesada with a Regional Mexican format and local news. On November 3, of that same year, XEMPM was authorized to migrate to FM, and XHMPM-FM 98.9 came to air at the end of January 2011. Los Mochis () is a coastal city in northern Sinaloa, Mexico. It serves as the municipal seat of the municipality of Ahome. As of the 2010 census, the population was 362,613, which was 61 percent of the municipality's population. Los Mochis is the western terminus of the Chihuahua-Pacific Railroad (El Chepe), which passes through the scenic Copper Canyon. This railway was originally conceived by Albert K. Owen and approved by President Porfirio Díaz as a trade route linking the cattle markets in Kansas City with the nearest port on the Pacific Ocean, Topolobampo. Today the North Pacific irrigation region (Sinaloa-Sonora) in which the Fort Valley is the largest district and is the principal agricultural area of Sinaloa, containing over 70% of all irrigated land and producing sugar cane, cotton, rice, flowers, and many types of vegetables.
