X Display Manager
In the X Window System, an X display manager is a graphical login manager which starts a login session on an X server from the same or another computer. A display manager presents the user with a login screen. A session starts when a user successfully enters a valid combination of username and password. When the display manager runs on the user's computer, it starts the X server before presenting the user the login screen, optionally repeating when the user logs out. In this condition, the DM realizes in the X Window System the functionality of and on character-mode terminals. When the display manager runs on a remote computer, it acts like a telnet server, requesting username and password and starting a remote session. XDM (display Manager)
The X Display Manager (XDM) is the default display manager for the X Window System. It is a bare-bones X display manager. It was introduced with X11 Release 3 in October 1988, to support the standalone X terminals that were just coming onto the market. It was written by Keith Packard. It can be configured using modules and scripts. Because of XDM's minimalism, most desktop environments tend to use later, more sophisticated display managers. XDM (file Format)
The Extensible Device Metadata (XDM) specification is an open file format for embedding device-related metadata in JPEG and other common image files without breaking compatibility with ordinary image viewers. The metadata types include: depth map, camera pose, point cloud, lens model, image reliability data, and identifying info about the hardware components. This metadata can be used, for instance, to create depth effects such as a bokeh filter, recreate the exact location and position of the camera when the picture was taken, or create 3D data models of environments or objects. The format uses XML and is based on the XMP standard. It can support multiple "cameras" (image sources and types) in a single image file, and each can include data about its position and orientation relative to the primary camera. Cross-document Messaging
Web Messaging or cross-document messaging, is an API introduced in the WHATWG HTML5 draft specification, allowing documents to communicate with one another across different origins, or source domains while rendered in a web browser. Prior to HTML5, web browsers disallowed cross-site scripting, to protect against security attacks. This practice barred communication between non-hostile pages as well, making document interaction of any kind difficult. Cross-document messaging allows scripts to interact across these boundaries, while providing a rudimentary level of security. The Springfield Armory XD is a series of semi-automatic pistols sold by Springfield Armory, Inc., in the United States along with follow-on variants: XD-M, XD-S, and XD-E.
