Wudalianchi (), formerly Dedu County (), is a county-level city in Heilongjiang province, Northeast China, under the jurisdiction of the prefecture-level city of Heihe. The city is served by Wudalianchi Dedu Airport. The city's name literal means "five great joint ponds", referring to a set of interconnected volcanogenic lakes formed after the eruption of the Laoheishan (, means "Old Black Mountain") and Huoshaoshan (, means "Fire Burn Mountain") volcanoes in 1720–21. The city's territory incorporates part of a volcanic field, which contains a APGN- and UNESCO-listed geopark. Heihe
Heihe (; ; Russian language, Russian: Хэйхэ) is a prefecture-level city of northern Heilongjiang province, China, located on the Sino-Russian border, Russian border, on the south bank of the Amur River, Amur (Heilong) River, across the river from Blagoveshchensk. Wudalianchi Dedu Airport
Wudalianchi Dedu Airport is an airport serving the city of Wudalianchi in Heilongjiang province of Northeast China. It is located southwest of the city center and from Wudalianchi National Park. It received approval from the State Council of China and the Central Military Commission on 25 December 2013. Its construction budget was 644.41 million yuan, and an additional 74 million yuan for related infrastructure outside the airport. The airport was opened on 22 November 2017, with an inaugural Loong Air flight from Harbin Taiping International Airport. Facilities The airport has a runway (class 4C), capable of handling Boeing 737s and Airbus A320s, and a terminal building. It is designed to handle 300,000 passengers and 1,500 tons of cargo annually by 2020. In this List of UNESCO Global Geoparks in Asia, the term "Asia" means the Geopark, UNESCO regional network of "Asia Pacifica", which is not a distinction of continents. Anatolia, historically the first Greek "Asia", from Luwian aswiya, today is part of the European Geoparks Network, as is western Russia. As there are not yet any geoparks in Siberia, or eastern Russia, the question of what geopark region it is remains unsettled. Hence the "Asia" portion of Asia Pacifica means southern and central Asia from Iran to Japan with Southeast Asia, which merges into the undefined "Pacifica", presumably involving islands of the Pacific. Heilongjiang is a province in northeast China. Asia Pacific Geoparks Network
The Asia Pacific Geoparks Network (APGN) is the regional geopark network of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) and the UNESCO International Geosciences and Geoparks Programme (UNESCO-IGGP). Its main role is to coordinate the activities of GGN in the UNESCO regions of Asia and the Pacific, to promote networking between global geoparks and geopark professionals in the region and to provide support for sustainable economic development in geopark areas. As of 2020 February, the APGN had 60 institutional members (UNESCO Global Geoparks) in countries. The Pacific region is currently not represented by a global geopark, but there are ongoing geopark projects, just as in other countries of Asia.
