Hendrik Emil (Rik) Wouters (21 August 1882 – 11 July 1916) was a Belgian painter, sculptor and draughtsman. Wouters produced 200 paintings, drawings and sculptures in his 34 years before his illness-caused death. he died partway through the First World War on 11 July 1916 in Amsterdam. A sculptor, painter, draughtsman and etcher of typically fauvist style, Wouters' art resembled the works of artists including Henri Matisse, Paul Cézanne and André Derain- the "forefathers" of Fauvism. Rik Wouters' art, according to Adams (2018), reflects themes of "warmth and tenderness", his paintings characterised by an array of colours and brush strokes, frequently leaving unpainted canvas to increase this effect. Rolf Wouters (born 23 April 1963) is a Dutch television presenter. Before his career as a television presenter, Wouters worked in advertising man and was actor in the film Flodder. Wouters has not been active on TV since 2005 and has lived in Portugal since then where he works as a farmer. Frans Wouters (1612–1659) was a Flemish Baroque painter who translated the monumental Baroque style of Peter Paul Rubens into the small context of cabinet paintings. He was a court painter to the Roman Emperor and the Prince of Wales and was active as an ambassador and art dealer. Life Frans Wouters was born in Lier, present-day Belgium. Jan Jacobus Wouters (born 17 July 1960) is a Dutch professional football coach and former player. He played as a defensive midfielder and was Dutch Footballer of the Year in 1990. Career Wouters played for several clubs including PSV, FC Utrecht, Bayern Munich and Ajax. He was also a Netherlands international team member (70 caps, four goals) and was hugely influential in 1988 when the Netherlands won the European Football Championship. Thierry Wouters (born July 12, 1979) is a Belgian former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. He is a single-time Olympian (2000) and a former Belgian record holder in the 50 and 100 m freestyle. Wouters made an international headline at the 1999 European Short Course Swimming Championships, when he set a Belgian record of 22.35 to earn a sixth spot in the 50 m freestyle. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Wouters competed in a sprint freestyle double. Ad Wouters (born 1944) is a sculptor, born in the Netherlands, who is active in Belgium in Leuven and the forest south of it. Wouters is known for his oak wood sculptures. Biography Wouters was born in Dordrecht. Starting at the age of 13, he worked in construction. At the age of 22 he traveled to Africa with the Belgian NGO Bouworde. After his stay in Africa, he went to live in Haasrode in Belgium, where he learned the skill of restoring buildings. Due to a work related accident, where he fell from a church tower in the 90s he became unfit for this kind of work. From then on he developed himself as an artist. Style Wouters creates wood sculptures, mostly from oak tree trunks or from other recovered materials. He is Jean Monnet Chair, and Professor of International Law and International Organizations at KU Leuven, where he is also Director of its Centre for Global Governance Studies and Institute for International Law. Stefan Wouters (born 1972) is a Belgian visual artist, curator and researcher of Happenings and Performance art. Wouters was born in Antwerp. While working in the family business of his parents, he studied painting and drawing at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp (DKO). He soon started to exhibit his paintings and the work of his fellow students in and around Antwerp.
