World Xiangqi Federation
The World Xiangqi Federation is the association of the national Xiangqi federations around the world, and has been a member of the International Mind Sports Association since 2015. On April 6, 1993 on the occasion of the 3rd World Xiangqi Championship in Beijing, China, the World Xiangqi Federation was founded. Timothy Fok
Timothy Fok Tsun-ting (born 14 February 1946), GBS, JP, the eldest son of Hong Kong tycoon Henry Fok, is the President of the Hong Kong Football Association. He formerly represented the Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication functional constituency between 1998 and 2012. While he was not affiliated with any political party, he caucused with the conservative wing of Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Xiangqi
Xiangqi (; ), commonly known as Chinese chess or elephant chess, is a Strategy game, strategy board game for two players. It is the most popular board game in China. Xiangqi is in the same family of games as shogi, janggi, chess, Western chess, chaturanga, and Indian chess. Besides China and areas with significant ethnic Chinese communities, this game is also a popular pastime in Vietnam, where it is known as , literally 'General's chess', in contrast with Western chess or ', literally 'King's chess'. The game represents a battle between two armies, with the primary object being to checkmate the enemy's general (king). The International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) is an association of the world governing bodies for contract bridge, chess, draughts, eSports, go, xiangqi (Chinese chess), mahjong and card games. Its members are the World Bridge Federation (WBF), World Chess Federation (FIDE), World Draughts Federation (FMJD), International Go Federation (IGF), World Xiangqi Federation (WXF), Mahjong International League (MIL), Federation of Card Games (FCG) and International Esports Federation (IESF). World Mind Sports Games
The World Mind Sports Games (WMSG) was a multi-sport event created by the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) as a "stepping stone on the path of introducing a third kind of Olympic Games (after the Summer and the Winter Olympics)". The inaugural 2008 World Mind Sports Games were held in Beijing from October 3 to 18, about two months after the Summer Olympics and one month after the Paralympics. Five mind sports participated in the first Games: bridge, chess, draughts (checkers), go (weiqi), and xiangqi (Chinese chess). Thirty-five gold medals were contested by 2,763 competitors from 143 countries, using the Olympic Village in Beijing. The sophomore 2012 World Mind Sports Games were held in Lille, France, from August 9 to August 23, 2012, with 30 events. It started during the 2012 Summer Olympics held in London, England, and ended shortly before the 2012 Summer Paralympics.
