World Squash Federation
World Squash, formerly World Squash Federation, is the Sport governing body, international federation for the indoor racket sport of Squash (sport), squash. It is recognised by the International Olympic Committee. It is also a member of the Global Association of International Sports Federations and the Association of the IOC Recognised International Sports Federations. Background In its early days, international Squash was controlled by the England Squash, Squash Rackets Association of England and the U.S. Squash, United States Squash Rackets Association. In 1966 representatives of the sport from Australia, Great Britain, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, USA, Canada and the United Arab Republic met in London. To harness the growth and to promote and co-ordinate the sport, the formation of the International Squash Rackets Association (ISRF) was decided, with its first meeting being held on 5 January 1967. Murray Day
Murray Charles Day (25 July 1931 – 18 March 2022) was a New Zealand sports administrator. He served as president of the New Zealand Squash Rackets Association, the Oceania Squash Federation, and the International Squash Rackets Federation (now the World Squash Federation). Biography Born in Hamilton on 25 July 1931, Day was the son of Eric Charles Day and Mary Margaret Day (née McNicol). His father was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 1953 Coronation Honours, for services in promoting rehabilitation activities in the South Auckland area. Murray Day was educated at Southwell School from 1939 to 1944, and then Wanganui Collegiate School, and went on to study accountancy at Auckland University College. He was admitted as an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 1959, and granted FCA status in 1969. Day served in the New Zealand Territorial Force, retiring with the rank of captain. The World Junior Squash Circuit is the premier level for worldwide competition among under-19 junior squash players organised by the World Squash Federation. Mirroring the PSA and WSA circuits, the World Junior Circuit ranks players and every year is organized the World Junior Squash Championships. World Junior Squash Team Championships
The World Junior Squash championships are the official junior tournament in the game of squash conducted by the World Squash Federation (WSF). Entry is open to individuals aged 19 and below. Since its inception, the world juniors has been held biennially with the junior men (individual and team) held one year, junior women (individual and team) the following year. The men's team event was held unofficially from 1973 to 1979. The individuals event (for both men's and women's) are held annually starting from 2009 while the team event remains biennial. World Squash Doubles Championships
The World Squash Doubles Championship was held in North America from 1981 until 1987 when it was sanctioned by the International Squash Racquets Federation. It was then held bi-ennially from 1994 as the World Hardball Doubles. There has also been a separate World Softball Doubles held under WSF rules, which require double pairs to be made up of two players from the same country. The WSF event has been held since 1997. Format In its most recent format, teams enter through their national governing body and the event is sanctioned by the WSF. The championships are played on courts measuring 32 feet (9.75 metres) by 25 feet – a court size approved by the World Squash Federation in 1992 for the international doubles game. This court size is the same depth as courts for the singles game, but appears to be slightly wider (singles courts are 21 feet wide).
