The World Soundtrack Awards, launched in 2001, are the annual awards for best Film score, film music, presented during the Film Fest Gent. The World Soundtrack Academy supports the art of film music through cultural, educational and professional activities. SABAM
SABAM is one of the Belgian associations of authors, composers and publishers. The bilingual acronym stands for "Société d'Auteurs Belge – Belgische Auteurs Maatschappij". Their headquarters is located at 41-43 rue des Deux Eglises in Brussels. As of 2023, SABAM had over 48,000 members. In 2023, SABAM distributed €130 million to rightsholders. History SABAM was founded in 1922 at the instigation of the composer under the name NAVEA. In 1945 it changed to its current name. The SABAM is a Civil Co-operative Society (CVBA) with Belgian authors, composers and publishers as members. They represent the interests of its members in the field of intellectual property rights and collect all the royalties due to its members in Belgium, and sister organizations in other countries (such as Buma/Stemra in the Netherlands), and then distributes these royalties to the copyright holders. Alex Otterlei
Alex Otterlei (born 17 September 1968) is a multiple award-winning composer who writes evocative and often very filmic music for orchestra, concert band and other ensembles. Alongside, Otterlei has created music and sound effects for theatre, short films, video games, roleplaying games and art installations. His music appears on various albums. Biography In the 1990s Otterlei pioneered the art of writing soundtracks for roleplaying games, resulting in popular rpg-soundtracks such as “Battlethemes”, “Arthur” and “Where Evil Lurks”. His Cthulhu-inspired orchestral soundtrack “Horror on the Orient Express” achieved international acclaim. Logan Nelson (composer)
Logan Nelson (born November 11, 1996) is an American composer who has composed scores for films, video games, and modern dance productions. In 2018, he received the SABAM Award for Best Young International Composer by the World Soundtrack Academy. He composes music for The Morning Show with Carter Burwell. Life and education Nelson was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. In his early years, he "fell in love with" the viola and studied piano and composition with local professors. Nelson attended the University of Southern California where he majored in Music Composition and minored in Cinematic Arts. At USC, he studied music composition with Ted Hearne and film scoring with Garry Schyman; Nelson worked closely with the Glorya Kaufman School of Dance and a solo violinist to "sample unique and interesting violin textures that he later produced into electronic elements" in collaboration with student choreographers, the project concluded with two performances.
