Workshed
Workshed is an English heavy metal band formed in Harrogate in 2014. The band consists of former Cathedral and Acid Reign members Adam Lehan and Mark Wharton, and Helen Storer. Their debut self-titled album, recorded by Jaime Arellano, was released on 13 September 2019 through Rise Above Records. History Lehan and Wharton had both played in Harrogate thrash metal band Acid Reign together in the 1980s. Eventually, the two would find themselves in doom metal band Cathedral, however both departed after the release of Statik Majik By 2014, Lehan had approached Wharton with a number of guitar riffs he had written, leading to them beginning to write music together once again. After some time, the pair approached former-Cathedral vocalist Lee Dorian, who agreed to release their album through his label Rise Above Records. Decibel premiered the track "Safety Behaviours" off of the album on 30 August 2019 and their self-titled debut album was released on 13 September the same year. In O ... Adam Lehan
Adam Lehan is a British musician who has worked with doom metal bands Cathedral and Workshed, thrash metal bands Acid Reign, Deadline and Lord Crucifier and folk band Beneath the Oak. History Some of Lehan's uncles were members of the Grumbleweeds, which led to him beginning to learn to play guitar at the age of fourteen, with his early influences including Brian May, Eric Clapton and Ritchie Blackmore. In 1987 he formed his first band, Deadline, who were heavily influenced by the sound of Venom and would generally play concerts in punk rock and crust punk circles, rather than metal. In 1987, while still in Deadline, he joined first-wave black metal band Lord Crucifier, after their relocation to Halifax, West Yorkshire from Italy, however Lehan was only a member for a few months. Mark Wharton
Mark Ramsey Wharton is a British musician who has worked as the drummer of Acid Reign, Cathedral, Cronos, Asomvel and Workshed. Biography Wharton formed Acid Reign in 1985, along with Kevin "Kev" Papworth, Ian Gangwer, Howard "H" Smith and Gaz Jennings, whom he had met at Granby High School in Harrogate Acid Reign eventually broke up in 1991 after the release of their 1990 album "Obnoxious", leading to Wharton joining his ex-Acid Reign bandmates Gaz Jennings and Adam Lehan in Cathedral in 1992. Wharton then proceeded to form the band Asomvel with Jay-Jay Winter (whom he had played with in an early band, called "Lochenbar") and Lenny Robinson in 1993. Rise Above Records
Rise Above Records is a London-based independent record label owned by Lee Dorrian, former member of Cathedral and Napalm Death. Founding Lee Dorrian started Rise Above Records in 1988 without the intention of the label being an ongoing position. It was during the same year that he had left his previous band, Napalm Death. Dorrian explained that it was predominantly done to "get the Unemployment benefits, dole off my back as they were asking a lot of questions as Napalm Death were on the front cover of the ''NME'' and on TV three times in one week, but I was still living in a council flat and couldn't even afford the rent." Rise Above Records was initially started up on the Enterprise Allowance Scheme, a Conservative government initiative which fronted cash to young entrepreneurs. Cathedral were a British doom metal band from Coventry, England. The group gained attention upon release of its debut album, '' Forest of Equilibrium'' (1991), which is considered a classic of the genre. However, the band's sound evolved quickly and began to adopt characteristics of 1970s metal, hard rock and progressive rock. After releasing ten full-length albums and touring extensively for over two decades, Cathedral broke up after the release of '' The Last Spire'' in 2013. Type O Negative
Type O Negative was an American gothic/doom metal band formed in Brooklyn, New York City in 1989 by Peter Steele (bass, lead vocals), Kenny Hickey (guitar, co-lead vocals), Josh Silver (keyboards, backing vocals), and Sal Abruscato (drums, percussion), who was later replaced by Johnny Kelly. Their lyrical emphasis on themes of romance, depression, and death resulted in the nickname "the Drab Four" (in homage to the Beatles' "Fab Four" moniker). The band went platinum with 1993's '' Bloody Kisses'', and gold with 1996's '' October Rust'', and gained a fanbase through seven studio albums, two best-of compilations, and concert DVDs. The Obsessed
The Obsessed is an American doom metal band from Potomac, Maryland, led by Scott "Wino" Weinrich. Formed in 1979, they recorded a few demos and played a handful of live shows until they first split up in 1986 when Weinrich joined as lead vocalist for Saint Vitus.
