Wootton, Bedfordshire
Wootton is a large village and civil parishes in England, civil parish located to the southwest of Bedford, in the north of Bedfordshire, England. The parish also includes the hamlets of Hall End, Keeley Green and Wootton Green. History Wootton has had a long association with brick-making, but is now mainly a dormitory community for Bedford and Milton Keynes. In the 18th century church bells were made here for several churches in Bedfordshire and adjoining counties. There has been a great deal of residential development over the last 30 years but some attractive old timber-framed houses still survive. The Church of St Mary the Virgin, Wootton, Bedfordshire, Church of St Mary the Virgin in the village is mainly 14th century but contains two fine monuments in the chancel to members of the Monoux family who died in 1685 and 1707. David Richard John Wootton (born 15 January 1952) is a British historian. He is Anniversary Professor of History at the University of York. Corey Wootton
Corey Andrew Wootton (born June 22, 1987) is an American former professional football defensive end who played in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Northwestern University. As a junior, he garnered first-team All-Big Ten Conference honors. He was selected by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft. He has also played for the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. Early life Born in Rutherford, New Jersey, Wootton played high school football at Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, New Jersey. Christopher James Wootton (born 11 December 1988 in Darlinghurst, New South Wales) is an Australian racing driver. With racing in his blood, Chris commenced his motor sporting career in karting in December 2004, at the Gold Coast Christmas race meeting. He had instant success becoming rookie of the year in two classes in the "2005 Queensland Karter of the Year" as well as many podiums in his inaugural year. The Wootton family have been involved in motor sport since the 1960s in Australia. Robert Clifton Wootton (March 4, 1942 – April 9, 2017) was an American guitarist. He joined Johnny Cash's backing band, the Tennessee Three, after original lead guitarist Luther Perkins died in a house fire. He remained Cash's guitarist for nearly thirty years. Biography Robert Clifton Wootton was born March 4, 1942, in Paris, Arkansas to coal miner Rubin Calvin Wootton, and his wife Noma Moore. In 1950, he moved with his family to Taft, California. Barbara Frances Wootton, Baroness Wootton of Abinger, CH (14 April 1897 – 11 July 1988) was a British sociologist and criminologist. She was the first of four women to be appointed as a life peer, entitled to serve in the House of Lords, under the Life Peerages Act 1958, after the names of the holders of the first 14 life peerages to be created had been announced on 24 July. ''Smith of Wootton Major'', first published in 1967, is a novella by J. R. R. Tolkien. It tells the tale of a Great Cake, baked for the once in twenty-four year Feast of Good Children. The Master Cook, Nokes, hides some trinkets in the cake for the children to find; one is a star he found in an old spice box. A boy, Smith, swallows the star. On his tenth birthday the star appears on his forehead, and he starts to roam the Land of Faery. After twenty-four years the Feast comes around again, and Smith surrenders the star to Alf, the new Master Cook. Alf bakes the star into a new Great Cake for another child to find. Leek Wootton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Leek Wootton and Guy's Cliffe, in the Warwick district, in the county of Warwickshire, England, approximately south of Kenilworth and north of Warwick.
