Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize
The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize is an annual acquisitive award for small sculpture, organised by the Woollahra Council in New South Wales, Australia. It is recognised as Australia's leading small-scale sculpture competition with a prize pool of over . In 2024 the prize attracted over 750 submissions from Australian and international artists. The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize was established in 2001 and is open to any freestanding sculptural work up to 80 cm in any direction. The major award earns a place in the Woollahra Council’s permanent public art collection. The prize consists of the main Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize valued at $25,000, the non-acquisitive Special Commendation award of $2,000, Mayor's Award of $1,000 and the Viewers' Choice award of $1,000. Woollahra Municipal Council (or Woollahra Council) is a local government area in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Mikala Dwyer
Mikala Dwyer is an Australian artist born in 1959 in Sydney. She is a contemporary sculptor who was shortlisted with fellow artist Justene Williams to represent Australia at the 2019 Venice Biennale. Education In 1983, Mikala Dwyer attended the University of Sydney and in 1986 received a Bachelor of Fine Art. Dwyer also spent time at the Middlesex University from 1985 to 1986 in the United Kingdom. In 2000, Dwyer earned her Masters of Fine Art at the University of New South Wales, College of Fine Art. Archie Moore (artist)
Archie Moore (born 1970) is an Aboriginal Australian multimedia artist. His work is represented in the Australian pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale. Early life and education Archie Moore was born in 1970 at Toowoomba, Queensland. He is a Kamilaroi/Bigambul man, with an Aboriginal mother and a father of British descent. In 1998 he graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane. Alex Seton
Alex Seton (born 1977) is an Australian artist, known for his contemporary use of marble carving. He also works in sculpture, photography, video and installation. He has been a two-time finalist in the Wynne Prize, won the Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, and been named as the Art Gallery of NSW Director’s Choice Winner at Sculpture by the Sea three times. Julia deVille is a New Zealand-born artist, jeweller and taxidermist, who only uses subjects in her taxidermy that have died of natural causes. She lives and works in Australia. Early life and education Julia deVille was born in Wellington, New Zealand. She studied fashion for one year at Massey University and then moved to Melbourne in 2001 to study shoe making/design at RMIT University, RMIT. Sanné Mestrom
Sanné Mestrom is an Australian experimental and conceptual artist who works mainly in the mediums of installation and sculpture. Mestrom has a research-based practice and incorporates notions of "play" into social aspects of urban design. Since 2011, Mestrom has remade and reinterpreted motifs from the twentieth century modernist art canon. She has earned many grants and has been commissioned to execute public art, sculptures in situ.
