Woodlands Regional Library
The Woodlands Regional Library (WRL; Chinese: 兀兰区域图书馆; ) is a regional public library in Woodlands in the North Region of Singapore. It is within the premises of the Woodlands Civic Centre, near Causeway Point, Woodlands Bus Interchange and Woodlands MRT station. The library has a floor space of 11,100 square metres and has 540,000 items in its collection. History Woodlands Regional Library was officially opened on 28 April 2001 by Dr Tony Tan Kheng Yam, then-Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, Minister for Defence and MP, Sembawang GRC (who later became Singapore's 7th President). It was Singapore’s first full-fledged regional library following the prototype regional library in Tampines. Tony Tan
Tony Tan Keng Yam (; born 7 February 1940) is a Singaporean banker and politician who served as the seventh president of Singapore between 2011 and 2017. Prior to entering politics, Tan was a general manager at OCBC Bank. He made his political debut in the 1979 by-elections as a People's Action Party (PAP) candidate contesting in Sembawang GRC and won. He later served as Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore from 1995 to 2005. Woodlands MRT Station
Woodlands MRT station is a Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the North–South MRT line, North–South (NSL) and Thomson–East Coast MRT line, Thomson–East Coast (TEL) lines in Singapore. Woodlands Bus Interchange (formerly Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange) is an air-conditioned bus interchange located at Woodlands Town Centre, serving the Woodlands, Marsiling, and Admiralty regions. Nearby amenities include the Causeway Point Shopping Mall, Woods Square, Woodlands Civic Centre, and Woodlands Regional Library. It is the eleventh Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) which is the largest and among the busiest bus interchange in Singapore; referring to air-conditioned bus interchanges integrated with MRT stations and commercial developments.
