Wolkite City F.C. (Amharic: , ) is a professional football club based in Welkite, Wolkite, Ethiopia. They play in the Ethiopian Premier League, the top division of football in Ethiopia. History Wolkite Ketema was founded in 2010. The club last played in the second division, Ethiopian Higher League, during the 2018–2019 season. That season Wolkite earned a promotion to the Ethiopian Premier League by finishing top of their respective group. To strengthen their team for their first season in the top flight, they signed a Ghanaian international Kweku Andoh, who most recently played for Ethiopian champions Mekelle 70 Enderta F.C., Mekelle 70 Enderta. Wolkite officially signed a two-year kit deal with Singapore-based apparel maker Mafro Sports in September 2019. Welkite (also transliterated Wolkite) () is a town and separate woreda in south-western Ethiopia. The administrative center of the Gurage Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Region (SNNPR), this town has a latitude and longitude of and an elevation between 1910 and 1935 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by cheha woreda. According to the Gurage Zone government, Welkite is one of 12 towns with electrical power, one of 11 with telephone service and one of nine that have postal service. The SNNPR's Bureau of Finance and Economic Development, adds that Welkite also had a bank branch and other financial institutions, as well as a hospital. An all-weather road was built in 1963 which connects Welkite to Addis Ababa by way of Endibir. Firew Solomon Ayele (; born 18 September 1992) is an Ethiopian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Ethiopian Premier League club Sidama Coffee and the Ethiopia national team. Club career Solomon began his career with the Ethiopian club Defence Force, and helped them win the 2015 Ethiopian Cup. On 2 August 2016, he transferred to Hawassa City. In 2018, he returned to Defence Force.
