Joel-Peter Witkin
Joel-Peter Witkin (born September 13, 1939) is an American photographer who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His work often deals with themes such as death, corpses (and sometimes dismembered portions thereof), often featuring ornately decorated photographic models, including people with dwarfism, transgender and intersex persons, as well as people living with a range of physical features which Witkin is often praised for presenting in poses which celebrate and honor their physiques in an elevated, artistic manner. Isaac Witkin
Isaac Witkin (10 May 1936 – 23 April 2006) was an internationally renowned modern sculptor born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Witkin entered Saint Martin's School of Art in London in 1957 and studied under Sir Anthony Caro and alongside artists including Phillip King, William G. Tucker, David Annesley, and Michael Bolus. Witkin helped create a new style of sculpture which led to this New Generation of sculptors and their innovating abstract forms of modern sculpture reaching and changing the art world. Witkin's abstract works of usually brightly colored fiberglass or wood was noted for its "witty, Pop-Art look". Andrew Paul Witkin (July 22, 1952 – September 12, 2010) was an American computer scientist who made major contributions in computer vision and computer graphics. Education Witkin studied psychology at Columbia College, Columbia University, for his bachelor's degree, and at MIT for his Ph.D supervised by Whitman A. Richards. Morton Witkin (April 25, 1895 – April 20, 1973) was a Jewish-American lawyer and politician from Pennsylvania. Life Witkin was born on April 25, 1895, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Myer Witkin and Ray Schmerling. Witkin attended public schools and graduated from the Central High School in 1913. He entered the University of Pennsylvania later that year, spent a year in the Wharton School, and graduated from the Law School in 1917. Later that year, during World War I, he enlisted in the United States Army as a private in the Quartermaster Corps at Fort Monroe, Virginia. Beatrice Braverman Witkin (May 13, 1916 – February 7, 1990) was an American composer and pianist who was best known for her electronic music, especially the theme she composed for the TV show ''Wild, Wild World of Animals'' in 1973. Witkin studied piano with Eduard Steuermann and composition with Roger Sessions, Mark Brunswick and Stefan Wolpe. She received a B.A. from Hunter College and a master's degree from New York University. She married Louis Witkin in 1938 and they had one daughter (Judy) and one son (Steve).
