''Witch Hunt'' is a role-playing game published by StatCom Simulations Inc. in 1983 that is set in the time of the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. Unusually for a role-playing game, the players are divided into two teams. Description ''Witch Hunt'' is a historical/horror system set in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692 during the time of the infamous Witch Trials. A player creates a character by rolling percentile dice ten times, then applying the results to the character's attributes. The player then distributes a further 30 points to the attributes. The height and weight of the character are also determined randomly, was well as social status, marital status, family (if any) and occupation. The Examination Of A Witch
''The Examination of a Witch'' is a painting by T. H. Matteson. There are two versions of the painting, one in the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, the other in the Portrait Gallery of the Darwin R. Barker Museum. The time the painting was set The painting may represent an event in 1692, during the Salem witch trials, the subject being one Mary Fisher. The year of 1656 is more likely, as Mary was then captured with Ann Austin, which makes 1692 less likely than 1656. As Mary Fisher was a Quaker, the Puritans did not welcome her, having condemned the Boston martyrs, a group of Quakers, to death. In the painting, some have visibly fainted. Note how she is being shamefully stripped to determine whether or not she was a witch, but the witches' mark is on her, confirming her guilt. Lawrence Schick is a game designer and writer associated with role-playing games. Early life and education Schick attended Kent State University in Ohio. Career Schick, as the head of design and development at TSR, brought aboard Tom Moldvay and David Cook and many other new employees as TSR continued to grow in the early 1980s. Gamescience is an American game company that produces role-playing games and game supplements. History Gamescience Corp. was started by Phillip E. Orbanes in 1965. In that year, the company published the wargame Vietnam which was reviewed in issue #4 of Strategy and Tactics (S&T) magazine. In 1967 the company published another wargame which Mr. Orbanes designed called Confrontation, which was reviewed in S&T issue #6. A character sheet is a record of a player character in a role-playing game, including whatever details, notes, game statistics, and background information a player would need during a play session. Character sheets can be found in use in both traditional and action role-playing games. A box set or (its original name) boxed set is a set of items (for example, a compilation of books, musical recordings, films or television programs) traditionally packaged in a box and offered for sale as a single unit.
