Wispolitics.com, sometimes styled as WisPolitics.com, is an online magazine and news service covering political and governmental news in Wisconsin. It issues hourly updates on daily events, political press releases, and political news. WisPolitics Publishing, Inc., based in Madison, Wisconsin, was founded in 1999 by Phil Prange and Jeff Mayers. Mayers was the former capitol bureau chief of the ''Wisconsin State Journal''. Prange was a political consultant and businessman, who had worked for Tommy Thompson. Mayers was the president and Prange served as publisher from 1999 until 2011. On February 3, 2011 Wispolitics announced that it had been acquired by ''The Capital Times''. Mayers continues as president and J.R. Ross, formerly of the Associated Press, is editor-in-chief. ''The Capital Times'' (or ''Cap Times'') is a weekly newspaper published Wednesday in Madison, Wisconsin, by The Capital Times Company. The company also owns 50 percent of Capital Newspapers, which now does business as Madison Media Partners. The other half is owned by Lee Enterprises (NYSE: LEE). Tommy George Thompson (born November 19, 1941) is an American politician who served as the 19th United States secretary of Health and Human Services from 2001 to 2005 in the Presidency of George W. Bush, cabinet of President of the United States, President George W. Bush. A member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, he was the 42nd governor of Wisconsin from 1987 to 2001 and Republican Parliamentary leader, floor leader in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1981 to 1987. WTMJ (620 kHz) is a commercial radio station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Owned by Good Karma Brands, the station has a news/talk radio format. Its sign-on dates back to 1922 and for most of its history it was owned by ''The Milwaukee Journal'' newspaper. On weekdays, it airs news blocks during drive time, local talk shows in middays, sports in the evening and syndicated shows in late nights. It is the flagship station for Milwaukee Brewers baseball and Milwaukee Bucks basketball. By day, it transmits 50,000 watts, the maximum for AM radio stations in the United States.
