Wisconsin Highway 84
State Trunk Highway 84 (often called Highway 84, STH-84 or WIS 84) was a state highway in Washington County and Ozaukee counties. The highway ran between Boltonville and Port Washington. History WIS 84 originally ran east–west between Boltonville and Port Washington (in Ozaukee County), via Fredonia. The road was turned over to the counties in two stages in the 1990s. The first stage removed the route between Port Washington and Fillmore, and in 1992, the remainder was turned back as Washington County Trunk Hwy H, but it is unclear when the signs were removed. Boltonville, Wisconsin
Boltonville is an unincorporated community located on Stony Creek in the town of Farmington, Washington County, Wisconsin, United States. History Harlow Bolton established the community in 1854. While much of Farmington was settled by German immigrants, Boltonville was a center of Irish immigration. The early settlers used Stony Creek to power grist and saw mills. There was also a cheese factory, as well as shops, a post office, and a school. In 1860, a group of Irish Catholics built a churching the community. The building was replaced by the St. John of God Church in 1891. In 1868, the Sisters of St. Agnes, a Catholic order founded in the Village of Barton, Wisconsin, built a school and a convent on the St. John of God Church property. The nuns served as public school teachers until at least 1892, and also taught parochial classes in the convent until 1879. Fillmore, Wisconsin
Fillmore (also Filmore) is an unincorporated community in the Town of Farmington, Washington County, Wisconsin, United States. The community was settled in the early 1850s by a group of immigrants from Saxony. Description The settlement was named after Millard Fillmore, who was president at the time. Fillmore is the location of the 1855 Saxonia House brewery, which was a gathering place for locals. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. Washington County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 136,761. Its county seat is West Bend. The county was created from Wisconsin Territory in 1836 and organized in 1845. It was named after President George Washington. Ozaukee County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 91,503. Its county seat is Port Washington, making it one of three Wisconsin counties on Lake Michigan not to have a county seat with the same name. Port Washington, Wisconsin
Port Washington is the county seat of Ozaukee County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Located on Lake Michigan's western shore east of Interstate 43, the community is a suburb in the Milwaukee metropolitan area 27 miles north of the City of Milwaukee. The city's artificial harbor at the mouth of Sauk Creek was dredged in the 1870s and was a commercial port until the early 2000s. The population was 11,250 at the 2010 census. When French explorers arrived in the area in the 17th century, they found a Native American village at the mouth of Sauk Creek—the present location of historic downtown Port Washington. Fredonia, Wisconsin
Fredonia is a village in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. Located on the Milwaukee River, the village is in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The population was 2,160 at the 2010 census. The community was the site of a Potawatomi village until at least the 1840s. The first white settlers in the area were Yankees, Germans and Luxembourgers who arrived in the 1840s, but the community was rural until the 1870s when the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway built a station in the area and businesses began to cluster it, laying the foundation for the village. Fredonia grew, incorporating in 1922.
